After what felt like years of flying to Burgess, and getting out of our shrunken state, we finally made it to Burgess. The street lights were dim and the ground was starting to cover in snow. Toothless landed near the ground and Jack jumped off, tossing Alex to the ground to untie her.
"Kidnapping? Really?" She asked, once she was untied. I glanced at her, and sucked in a big gulp of air.
"Look, I know it was harsh treatment-"
"Harsh?! He practically broke my arms doing it!" She shouted.
"I know but it was for a good cause-" she cut me off again.
"Good cause? How was it for a good cause?!" She shouted.
I grunted loudly. "Will you shut up and listen to me!" I paused, seeing her shut up instantly. I took that as my cue to continue. "Okay, so. As I was saying, its a good cause because we have been through so much with you and so we have decided to kidnap you so that we had another party with us and so we can storm Pitch's lair with another person. Plus this." I held up my hand and showed her the veins.
She gasped, but didn't look to shocked. Walking up, she gripped my hand in hers. "Your hand, it seems to have suffered the curse as well. My mother's hands used to look like that after she was under the curse as well." She said quietly, examining the hand. "She ended up disappearing after the people drove her out. It's a good thing you left, though he may chase you. He tried to go after my mom but failed. He may want your power and you better not succumb to it. If your soul is twisted enough you could get lost in the power." She explained, dropping my hand.
"That's why I left, and I won't succumb. I'm stronger than that. I have Jack so I doubt it would end like that." I explained, holding her gaze. She nodded and sucked in a big breath.
"So, where to next?" She asked, taking everything out of her breath.
Jack smiled, intercepting our conversation. "We, are gonna go get my sister." I explained. I nodded.
"Okay, and where is that?" She asked.
"Pitch's lair. I know where it is." Jack smirked, using the wind to fly up off the ground. I nodded and pointed for him to lead the way. He got the hint instantly and from there, we started towards the lair. I was kind of scared to see how Jack's sister will take it, knowing her brother is alive. Or does she know?
After a while of walking, and Jack leading the way, we came to a lake... The lake Jack and I first met. The lake our love started in. It seemed to have come to a great stop there for a little while, but now I seem to have grown it back.
"Okay, if I remember correctly, its around the outer edge of my lake." He said, desperately searching the area. He perked up when he came to a hole in the ground that had a creaky, broken down bed on top of it.
"I thought he lived somewhere nicer, at least... That's what I remembered." I say, glancing down the hole.
"He did, but this is his second place. His major Guardian palace." Jack smirked, jumping on the bed. I sighed and stepped on it with my pegleg, only to have it break underneath me. Before I knew it, I was falling. I heard a strangled cry, but I didn't know who's. On instinct I shot my hand up and pulled down, landing on something soft. My breathing came into my ears, heavy and frantic as I searched my surroundings. What I landed on though, shocked the wind out of me.
I, on some miracle, landed on a net of shadows. My shadows. I heard Jack's strangled cry and I glanced up, seeing him flaying at full speed to me. He tackled me into a hug.
"Oh Hiccup! You scared the shit out of me!" He said.
I smiled. "Since when does Jack FROST get scared?" I emphasized. He pulled back and kissed me deeply.
"Oh my god, are you guys okay?" Alex asked, hovering with her wings. I nodded, pushing Jack off of me so I could roll of the shadows. Once I landed on the floor, the shadows dissolved, creeping back to their corners.
"I did that?" I asked aloud, although it was just meant for me. Jack seemed just as dumbfounded as me, so their really wasn't anything to answer my question.
"I'm just saying, that scream for help as you were falling down the hole, would've had me laughing til I cried. You know, if you weren't plummeting to your death." He teased, pinching my cheek. I rolled my eyes and slapped his arm.
"Shut up! My scream wasn't that bad." I defended.
"It was about as bad as a Screaming monkey going into heat and looking for a mate." He said, almost matter-of-factly.
"They are howler monkeys, okay, and I did not sound like that." Alex finally slapped a hand over both of our mouths, stepping between us.
"Now is not the time to talk about Hiccups girly screams. We are here to find someone. So hope to it Idiots." She said, folding her arms.
"Looks who's being bossy." Jack said.
"Oh shut up ya icicle." And with that Alex walked deeper into the cave. I shrugged and walked with her, glancing at the familiar area. Remembering everything that had happened to me. After getting in, Alex stopped and was starting at the ground in horror. I glanced down, seeing a couple dried spots of blood. My blood and some of Jack's.
"Seems Pitch isn't too good on cleaning," I say.
"Seems like it." Jack responded.
"What do you guys mean?" Alex asked, glancing back at us.
"Before you met us, Pitch had evil intentions before. He turned Jack evil once, and then me. I, though, did it on choice. Jack didn't. Anyway, he made me go after Jack and later, nightmare me killed me... Or... Himself and so that's why this place looks like a battle ground. It was a pretty gruesome fight." I explained, squatting down to rub the dried spots.
"I'm sorry," she said. "But at least Pitch didn't win, right?"
"Almost," an unfamiliar voice said into the room, making me jump up on my heels. I glanced at Jack who was already pointing his staff. "He almost won." The feminine voice said again.
"And how would you know?' I asked bitterly.
She chuckled. " because I was there, silly. Or at least I heard it." She replied.
"Wait...that voice... I know that voice." Jack said, already lowering his staff.
I shot a confused look and then back into the dark lair. "Yes, Jack. You do. But who am I?" The voice said.
I looked at Jack who's eyes grew big and almost teary. "Emma?" He said almost breathlessly.
"Correct," the voice said from behind us. When we looked, I was met with a pair of purple eyes and straight black hair. She smiled softly, and I couldnt help but feel the weight lifting off my shoulders. We found her, and Jack finally looked a little at peace with his life.
