Haetae.
In Korean folklore, the haetae is a scaled goat-like creature that was believed to know right from wrong, and helped pass judgement on guilty and innocent parties.
Choi Gayoung is the last known Haetae to exist in the world. Lee Yeon is...

Gayoung let out a grunt as she kicked open the door to the roof. The now inky black sky and bare roof safe for a few ac units were all that greeted her as she ran across the roof. A part of her was hoping for a surprise visit from Hwayoung, but it seemed that whichever soul she was in the middle of saving still needed her attention, meaning Gayoung was still on her own against the two ghosts.
She reached the end of the roof, holding onto the railing while looking over the edge to see that the streets below were as empty as could be. She let out a curse at the lack of options she had to escape from those chasing her. Hearing the door to the roof closing from behind her, she turned around and stiffened when she saw the mismatched ghost girls who had been chasing her ever since the penthouse. Her grip around the railing almost made the concrete structure break as suddenly waves of ghost children appeared behind the two who had been chasing her for the past hour or so.

"Give up your body."
"Give up your body."
"Give up your body."
"Give up your body."
"Give up your body."
Was all she heard from the hoard of ghost children. Before, she had no doubts that she could at least stall for time for Hwayoung to find her or call Rang to get the two off her back. But now there were at least twenty or thirty ghost children staring her down to get control of her body.

Lee Yeon wasn't sure if he was dead or knocked out from all the blood loss. He could still feel the bitter cold wind blowing against his face while the faint sound of the flying knives whistled by above him. It seemed to have gotten so obvious that he was at Death's doorstep, for good this time, that he was experiencing that 'your life starts flashing before your eyes' phenomenon, which read more like 'Lee Yeon's greatest failures'.
As per usual, he was haunted by the memories of losing A-Eum, killing her along with Imoogi, only to lose her all over again when he failed to stop her from crossing the river.
Then he was haunted by Rang's shocked, disbelief-filled face when he nearly killed his younger brother when they met again for the first time after everything. A part of him really wanted to move past everything and return to being the close siblings they once were, but every time he'd come across the present-day Rang, any hope of that vanished.
