"Are you sure you want to go through with this?" Yeon asked Gayoung, looking up at the funeral home building with uncertainty. "This seems something more suited for Ji-Ah considering her job. We could just let her deal with this and get lunch ourselves."
Gayoung shook her head as she adjusted the sleeves of her blazer slightly regretting the pomegranate color since it caught people's attention so easily but then rationalized it that it was for work.
"His children pushed me into jumping off a roof to escape them from taking my body. To protect the masses I need to put my grievances aside and help the two find peace and move on." She told him, glancing over at Judgement, who turned invisible against her back in its sheath, when it let out a whine in agreement.
Yeon frowned at her words, still not liking the idea of her being around a possible child m*lester, but he still held open the door to the funeral home for her. Might as well be her bodyguard if she was seriously going to see this through. The two walked through the halls, briefly looking into each room for the two sisters father, finding the man slumped up against the wall holding onto something yellow and looking defeated. Yeon stopped by the doorway, watching the defeated looking man with an intense gaze, while Gayoung walked into the room and sat down from the man at arm's length away.
The man looked up at her, confused by her sudden appearance and sat up a bit straighter.
"Who... who are you?" The man asked her.
Gayoung plastered on a convincing smile for him. "We never had the chance to meet. I was close with Min Seo and Yeon Seo." She told him, covering up the truth.
The sister's father nodded, easily believing her lie before slightly bowing to her.
"Ah, I see," He said, before his face turned to that of a sheepish expression. "You see, I'm a truck driver. So I'm rarely ever home."
"Yes, I know. I also know that your brother was the one to look after the sisters when you weren't home." She told him, feeling Yeon's eyes on her back before walking off to find the uncle.
"My brother happened to have an interview that day." The two sisters father said, immediately defending his brother.
Gayoung could now see that the yellow object he was holding onto was a school bag meant for a child. She could see the white outline of a bunny on the flap of the bag making the corner of her mouth twitch up into a smile.
