Maybe I should ask her on a date Amelia thought.
It's been a week since and Maya still has a tough time excepting her new body, the first day she went on a longer than usual morning run which earned her a scolding from Carina making her break down and crying about how much she hated her body.
The next day she booked an appointment with Diane, it was a long session with her trying to convince Maya that Carina isn't her father, and she wouldn't stop loving her because the way she looked.
Carina was there for her every step of the way reassuring her, and telling her how much she loved her, and that wouldn't change, no matter how she looked, and as she promised she began to "trick" little Maya to eat her vegetables which she did after throwing a little tantrum and going to the park a lot for making her eat "gooey" food.

And now Maya was spinning around in the front desk chair dying of boredom.
She groaned when her hundredth paper airplane crashed instead of landing inside the trash bin.
Maya was folding a new paper determined to make one that will fly when she heard someone knocking on the glass door.
Ones she buzzed them in she stood fixing and tucking in her crew shirt "hello, welcome to station 19 how can I..." the words died in her mouth when she looked up and saw her father.
"So it's true" Lane said looking around "you aren't a captain anymore" he said looking at a terrified Maya frozen in her place "I didn't think it was true, my Maya would never do something stupid like getting demoted because she didn't follow the rules, what do you hav to say about that" he snapped his fingers to get her attention.
She shook her head snapping out of it "what are you doing here dad?"
"Can't a dad visit his daughter at work?" He answered "you didn't answer my question Maya, why they demoted you"
"I-I decided" she cleared her voice "I decided to save a life and to do that I had to disobey a direct order"
"You sacrificed our goal of being a battalion chief at 40 to save a life?" He questioned.
"I didn't sacrifice anything it was the right decision I became a fire fighter to save lives not to chase after a title" she said sternly.
Lane began to chuckle and took a step closer to Maya "is that what you tell yourself everyday that's ok to be a fucking disappointment, first I had to deal with the fact that you can't run anymore because you sprained your ankle but at least you got the gold medal and my training didn't go to waste" he shrugged "then you moved out and all went downhill after that because I wasn't there to help you to keep your eyes forward, you got into the fire Academy against my will but at least you became a captain, but that went away" he shook his head disappointedly "you came into my home and announced that you are getting married to a woman nonetheless"
Maya closed her eyes shut, fighting the urge to slip, cursing her self that she still couldn't control it no matter how much she tried, she wished that this is all a nightmare, and she would wake up safe in her mama's arms.
Lane stopped talking when he noticed a tear fell down Maya's cheek and scoffed "there is no need to cry I'll fix it, you'll come back home and we'll return to our routine and in no time I'll get you back to shape let's go" he said heading to the door.
