Ginevra walked into school beside the two Rossi siblings. Her entire life she never really minded school. It was a place that she could escape to, away from her father. It helped that she was smart and didn't have to try too hard to get good grades.
"Yo, Nicco!" someone yelled.
Ginevra turned to see Brando walking up beside them. She never really cared for Brando. He always acted like he was better than everyone. After he released that video of his girlfriend, Ginevra had trouble even being around him. She didn't understand how someone could do something like that to a person they were in a relationship with. As per usual, the poor girl got called every offensive name in the book while Brando was celebrated.
"Hey I didn't hear from you much this weekend," Brando said.
"Yeah I hung out with Virginia most of the weekend," Nicco said.
"Come on, man. When are you going to drop her already?" Brando asked.
"Sounds like somebody's jealous," Cami commented from beside Brando.
Brando sent the girl a glare, "I'm not jealous. Why don't you shut your mouth Cami!"
"Really because it sounds like your jealous that Niccolo's in a relationship and you're not," Cami sassed.
"I could get any girl in this school that I wanted," Brando said. He looked at Ginevra before throwing his arm around her shoulder. She inwardly cringed as her body stiffened under his touch. "Isn't that right Ginevra?"
"I'd rather not comment on that," Ginevra said, "Can you please stop touching me."
"Oh come on," Brando said pulling her closer so that his mouth was close to her ear, "You're telling me that if I gave you the chance you wouldn't sleep with me?"
Ginevra could feel bile in the back of her throat. She could say for a one hundred percent fact that she would never sleep with Brando. A hand wrapped around her arm as she was pulled out of Brando's grasp.
"She told you to stop touching her," Nicco said shoving Brando away. He moved Ginevra so that she was standing on the opposite side of him, away from Brando.
"What's your problem?" Brando asked.
"My problem is you," Nicco said glaring at his friend.
Ginevra looked at Cami who was standing on the other side of Brando. She gave her friend a what's going on look. Cami slightly shrugged her shoulders, she had no idea where all this tension was coming from.
"Ginevra and I are going to head to class," Cami said walking to her friend and grabbing her hand, "We'll see you guys later."
Before either boy could say anything, Cami was pulling Ginevra away.
"That was so weird," Cami said when they were out of earshot.
"Yeah," Ginevra agreed.
"I don't think I've ever seen Nicco snap on someone so quickly," Cami said. She was right. Nicco was a bit of a hothead but it usually took more than that to get him riled up. Not that Ginevra wasn't thankful, if Brando continued to touch her any longer she might have actually thrown up. But it was weird for Nicco to blow up on him so quickly.
Cami and Ginevra walked into the classroom and took their seats toward the back. "How was your guy's fun weekend?" Fabio asked.
"It was really fun!" Cami laughed, "No pun intended."
"You seriously have to join us for one sometime!" Ginevra said.
"I can't intrude on your guy's tradition," Fabio said, "Plus don't you typically do girly stuff?"
"Fabio you're one of our best friends. You can join us for one of our fun weekends," Ginevra said.
"Plus we don't always go girly stuff. If you joined we'd make sure to do manly stuff," Cami smiled.
"I'll think about it," Fabio said and Chiara sat at her seat.
"Think about what?" Chiara asked.
"We were just trying to convince our dear friend Fabio here to join us for one of our fun weekends," Cami said.
"You so have to Fabio! Before we leave for America," Chiara said.
"I still can't believe I'm going to have to suffer through a whole year without you guys," Fabio said.
Before any of the girls could answer the bell rang and the teacher enter the classroom. Everyone stood saying good morning. The teacher replied and told everyone they could be seated.
Ginevra was doing her best to concentrate on what the teacher was saying but she was finding it difficult. She hardly got any sleep last night, so she was especially exhausted today. As she felt her eyelids grow heavy the door to the classroom opened catching her attention.
Principal Fedeli walked into the classroom followed by a boy she'd never seen before. "Good morning Mr. Fedeli."
"Good morning Mrs. Romano," Mr. Fedeli said before turning to talk to the class, "Everyone I would like you to meet your new classmate. Domiano Younes."
"He's pretty cute," Cami whispered to Ginevra who was sitting next to her.
"Not exactly my type," Ginevra whispered to Cami. Damiano wasn't bad looking but she definitely didn't think he was attractive.
"I hope you will all make him feel welcome," Mr. Fedeli smiled before walking out of the classroom.
"Welcome Domiano," Mrs. Romano smiled, "You may have a seat in the empty chair in the first row."
Mrs. Romano continued to teach about what she had been discussing before the interruption. Ginevra couldn't help but wonder why Damiano was transferring in the middle of the school year. That typically didn't happen at Collodi.
