Ginevra took a deep breath as she stared up at her school. It was the first day of the new school year. Ginevra had a pretty shitty last half of the summer. But about a week ago she decided that it was time to quit sulking. Her father was still in rehab but she wasn't going to let that bother her anymore. There was no sense of sulking around when she didn't even know when he'd be home, it had been a month.
"Ginevra!" someone called. She turned to see Vittorio walking up to her, Carlo trailing close behind.
"Vitto," Ginevra smiled.
"How are you, pretty girl?" Vitto asked, throwing his arm around her shoulder. Ginevra couldn't help but roll her eyes. The boys had always had a thing for her, but she never really gave him the time of day.
"I'm good. How was Canada?" Ginevra asked.
"It was good," Vitto replied, "But I missed you."
"How are you, Carlo?" Ginevra asked, ignoring Vitto.
"Good, good," Carlo said, "Not looking forward to being back in this shit hole."
"You and me both," Ginevra said.
"You going inside?" Vitto asked.
"I was before you stopped me," Ginevra said.
"Let's go then," Vitto said smiling at the girl. He kept his arm around her shoulder as he pulled her toward the school. Ginevra didn't feel like fighting Vitto, letting him drag her along into the building.
As soon as they entered the school her gaze met the eyes she'd been ignoring half the summer. Someone who she had grown close to but pushed away when she was at her worst. The blue eyes that had once been filled with adoration are now filled with sorrow.
"What are you staring at?" Virginia asked catching Nicco's attention.
"Nothing, baby," Nicco said.
"Buddy!" Vitto yelled. He unwrapped his arm from Ginevra's shoulder as he and Carlo greeted Brando and Nicco. Ginevra look at Virginia, but the girl was ignoring her.
"Canadian high school, did you have a good time?" Brando asked.
"Fantastic," Vitto said, "You'd like it. Lots of dicks to suck."
"I had your mother's thanks," Brando said, "I made sure to take real good care of her while you were gone."
"Seriously though, we missed you," Nicco said.
"We did," Virginia agreed.
"You're more beautify than ever," Vitto said turning his attention to Virginia.
"You wanna start something?" Nicco asked getting in his face, "Cause I'll smash your face in."
"There he is," Vitto joked as his forehead pressed against Nicco's, "Always gotta be the tough guy." The two boys laughed before pulling each other into a hug.
"I freaking missed you, Vitto," Nicco said.
"I missed you too, bro," Vitto replied.
"Why don't you two give each other a kiss while you're at it," Brando scoffed.
"I got my eyes set on someone else this year anyway," Vitto said putting his arm back around Ginevra.
"You've had your eyes set on me for three years now and still haven't got me yet. What makes you think this year will be different?" Ginevra said rolling her eyes.
"I just have a good feeling about this year," Vitto shrugged.
"I mean you have gotten pretty slutty this past year," Virginia said. Ginevra met the girl's eyes. Stupid of her to think that she might have changed.
"Virginia," Nicco said.
"Wow, what happened between you two while I was gone?" Vitto asked.
"We're not going to pretend like it just didn't happen," Virginia said turning to Nicco.
"Pretend like what didn't happen?" Carlo asked.
"Pretend like she didn't sleep with my boyfriend," Virginia said snapping her head toward Ginevra. She felt Vitto's arm slip off her shoulder. She looked over at him and he was genuinely shocked.
"Virginia, I said I was sorry," Ginevra said quietly, not wanting to draw any more attention to them.
"Sorry don't take back what you did," Virginia said. The girl shoulder-checked Ginevra pushing her back. She would have fallen over if she hadn't bumped into Vitto's chest. Ginevra looked into Nicco's eyes. She could see in his eyes that he wanted to say something to her. "Better go get your girlfriend."
Without another word, Nicco left the group and went after Virginia. Ginevra turned to look at Vitto and Carlo. Vitto's shock had worn off his face but Carlo still looked shocked. "I better get to class," Carlo said leaving the two standing there.
"You slept with Nicco?" Vitto asked.
"I don't want to talk about it," Ginevra said, "I better get to class."
"Hold on," Vitto said grabbing ahold of her arm, "Information like that can't be spilled and then you won't talk to me about it."
"It was a one-time thing and a mistake I shouldn't have made," Ginevra said, "I was upset and Nicco was there. It was stupid. I was stupid." Ginevra tried to read Vitto's expression, but she couldn't. "Are you gonna stop being friends with me too? Everyone else already did."
"No, hey," Vitto said grabbing ahold of her shoulders, "I'm not gonna stop being friends with you just because you slept with Nicco." Ginevra looked into Vitto's eyes, from what she could tell it looked like she was being genuine.
"Well you're about the only one," Ginevra said, "Cami barely started talking to me before she left for America."
"Well you got me now," Vitto said, holding out his hand, "Walk you to class?"
"I'd like that," Ginevra smiled. She grabbed Vitto's hand. The two walked down the hall toward her classroom. They stopped just before the door, Ginevra turning to look at him.
"So, uh, maybe I can text you later and we could grab a bite to eat?" Vitto said.
"You can text me," Ginevra nodded, "I don't know if I'll say yes though." Vitto laughed at the girl's joke.
"Your number still the same?" he asked.
"Yeah. I had to get a new phone because mine glitched out, but my numbers still the same," Ginevra said. Vitto sent the girl a smile before walking off to his classroom. Maybe Ginevra had been wrong to reject Vitto all these years.
Vitto has entered the chat...👀👀👀
