Ginevra sat on the couch at home by herself. This is where she spent most of her time, either here or at the park. It had been about a month since Cami left and she hadn't been spending much time with Chiara.
At first, staying at home wasn't ideal, but she quickly learned to work around her father and stay out of his way. As long as she didn't get in his way and did what he asked she was usually fine.
Ginevra paused the movie she was watching and got up off the couch to walk into the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator grabbing a bottle of soda. The front door opened making her freeze.
She could hear her dad stumbling around in the living room, he was drunk. If she moved fast enough maybe she could make it back to her room before he noticed her. Ginevra tried as quietly as she could to shut the refrigerator door. As the door latches shut something inside clanked together making a noise.
"Ginevra," Alessio called out. Ginevra squeezed her eyes shut cursing at herself under her breath. She turned around seeing her dad walk into the kitchen. As soon as her eyes met him she knew he was more than drunk. "What are you doing?"
"I was uh...just grabbing a drink," Ginevra said holding up her drink.
"Next time I say your name, answer," Alessio snapped.
"Yes, sir," Ginevra said.
"Get out of the way," Alessio said pushing his daughter to the side so that he could get to the refrigerator. Ginevra moved out of his way, standing by the counter. She knew now that he was here she wouldn't be allowed to go to her room until he allowed her to.
"You've been home a lot lately. Did your so-called friend finally realize what a loser you are?" Alessio asked.
"No," Ginevra replied.
"So you're still friends with the Rossi girl?" Alessio asked taking a sip from his bottle. Ginvera nodded her head in reply.
"Use you're words when you speak to me," Alessio said, "You know I fucking hate when you do that."
"I'm sorry," Ginevra said.
"Why don't you come and watch a movie with your old man," Alessio said. Even though she'd been watching a movie, she didn't want to anymore. Especially not with him.
"I was actually just gonna go to my room," Ginevra said taking a step toward the hallway.
"No," Alessio said grabbing her arm, "You're gonna come and watch a movie with me like I said."
"I really would like to go to bed," Ginevra said trying to pull her arm out of his grasp. She accidentally bumped his hand making him drop the bottle that was in his hand. Ginevra felt her heart shatter much like the glass that littered the floor.
"What the fuck!" Alessio yelled. His eyes met Ginevra's, he was so mad she felt like she could see actually fire behind them.
"I'm sorry," Ginevra breathed.
"You little bitch," Alessio said tightening his grip on her upper arm.
"It was an accident," Ginevra defended. His hand came so fast, she wouldn't have known it hit her if it hadn't left the worst pain she'd ever felt on the side of her cheek. It hit her so hard she would have fallen to the ground if he didn't have ahold of her arm so tight. His hand came to grasp her other arm as he brought his face close to hers.
"You need to fucking watch what you're doing!" Alessio yelled. Ginevra cringed away from her father. He was so enraged she knew her best line of defense was to shut up and not say anything. Alessio shoved his daughter to the ground. Falling on her hands and knees, she could feel some glass pierce into her hands and shins but she refused to make any noise.
"Fucking clean this up and then go to your room," Alessio said before walking back to the refrigerator. The man pulled out another bottle before walking into the living room.
Ginevra waited for the sound of the tv to turn on before she quickly got up and bolted to her room. She locked the door trying to figure out what to do. Her hands reached for the waistband of her shorts, she cursed when she realized that she'd left her phone in the living room.
"Think Ginevra, think," she whispered to herself. Her eyes landed on the window that was by her bed. She could leave out of it, it's not like she hadn't don't it plenty of times before. But where would she go? She didn't have her phone to call Chiara, which was the only place she could really go. Ginevra looked down at her legs, they were covered in cuts that now had blood dripping from them. One big piece of glass stuck in her palm particularly worried her.
"I thought I told you to clean this up!" Alessio's voice boomed from the kitchen. Ginevra didn't have time to think. She was running toward her window and shoving it open. By the time Alessio was beating on her door she was halfway out of the window. As soon as her feet touched the ground she was running full speed away from the house.
The fear and adrenaline from being caught by her father pushed her even though her legs were killing her. Her mind was so clouded with fear that she didn't stop to think or even breathe. Slight easily washed over her body as she ran up the driveway. Ginevra banged on the door, hoping that someone would answer. She glanced over her shoulder making sure he dad hadn't followed her.
"Ginevra?" a voice said making her jump.
Sooo I totally lied in the last author's note. There's gonna be a few more chapters before we dive into season 2!!
