Ginevra tried to roll over in bed but an arm tightening around her waist stopped her. Her eyes shot open in surprise and terror. As she took in her surroundings the events of last night came back to her mind. Nicco.
She had run to the Rossi's house last night and Nicco had cleaned her up. She'd told him everything...and he'd promised to keep her secret.
"Good morning," Nicco mumbled against the back of her neck. His breath on her skin sent goosebumps across her body.
"Good morning," Ginevra said pulling away from his grasp to roll and face him.
"Did you sleep all right?" Nicco asked.
"Yeah, I slept fine," Ginevra said.
"How's your hand?" Nicco asked. Ginevra held out her hand toward Nicco. His thumb grazed over the cut. It had already started to scab over. While he examined her hand, she couldn't help but watch his expression. His brows furrowed as he looked at her hand but his expression relaxed when he met her eyes again. "It seems to be healing all right. I don't think you'll need stitches."
"Good. You know how I hate needles," Ginevra said.
"Are you hungry?" Nicco asked. As if on cue her stomach started to growl. Ginevra hadn't eaten anything since lunch the day before. "I'll take that as a yes. Why don't you go shower and I'll make some breakfast. I'm sure Cami wouldn't mind if you borrowed some of her clothes."
Ginevra sent the boy a smile before she slipped out of his bed and made her way to Cami's room. She sifted through what she left behind during her trip and settled on a plain T-shirt with some athletic shorts.
She walked into the bathroom turning on the shower and stripping off her clothes. Ginevra wasted no time getting into the shower and letting the warm water run over her body. Everything from last night really started to settle in. She couldn't believe she ended up at the Rossi's house, or that she had told Nicco a secret that she'd been keeping for eight years.
After staying in the shower until the water ran cold Ginevra decided to get out. She wrapped a towel around her body looking at herself in the mirror for the first time since her dad hit her. There was a rather large bruise on her cheek and the side of her bottom lip was cut open. She looked down at her palms and legs seeing tiny cuts that had scabbed over.
Ginevra turned away from the mirror, not wanting the reminder of last night. She figured that Nicco was probably done making breakfast by now so she quickly got dressed and made her way to the kitchen.
Nicco smiled at the girl as she walked out of the hallway. He was sitting at the table with a plate in front of him and across from him.
"You didn't have to wait for me," Ginevra said, feeling bad that she took so long in the shower.
"I wanted to," Nicco said. Ginevra sent him a small smile before sitting down across from him. The two started eating their breakfast in silence. There was a bit of awkwardness between them. The two hadn't said a word to one another since the day in the classroom. Ginevra had convinced herself that she hated Nicco, she thought he hated her. But last night and this morning were making her think differently. You don't help someone you hate.
"I just wanted to say thank you," Ginevra said, "I know we aren't exactly on talking terms and we haven't been for a while. You didn't have to help me last night but you did, so thank you."
"I would never not help you, Ginevra," Nicco said, "I know...I know that last time we spoke I said some pretty messed up things. I wanted to apologize for it right after you left. I just felt like keeping my distance from you was what was best. Just know I truly am sorry."
"I forgive you, Nicco," Ginevra said. She wasn't sure if forgiving Nicco was the right thing to do or not. He had called her a whore just because she told him she didn't want to see him. Maybe he had changed over the past month. Maybe he was actually sorry. Plus, now that he knew her biggest secret she had someone to confide it. She very well couldn't do that if they weren't friends.
"So friends again?" Nicco asked.
"Friends," Ginevra smiled. A huge smile appeared on Nicco's face.
"If you need anything...and I mean anything you can always come to me," Nicco said placing his hand on top of hers.
"There's actually something I need," Ginevra said.
"What is it?" Nicco asked.
"Last night when I left my house I ended up leaving my phone behind," Ginevra said, "I was wondering if you could come with me today to get it."
"Of course," Nicco agreed, "I already told you you're not going back to that house alone. We can go as soon as you're done eating if you want."
That's exactly how Ginevra found herself standing in front of her home with Nicco standing behind her. Her dad's car was in the driveway so she was hesitant to go into the house.
"I can go in and grab it if you want," Nicco suggested, "You can just stay out here and wait." Ginevra glanced over her shoulder at the boy. His offer was sweet but she knew she needed to do this. She could stay away from the house forever. Sure, Nicco was making her stay at his house until his parents go back. But eventually, she'd have to go back and face it on her own.
"No," Ginevra replied, "Actually umm would you mind waiting out here? I know I asked you to come with me but I feel like this is something I should do on my own." She could see the hesitation in his face. His eyes showcased the internal battle that was going on in his head.
"Okay. But if I hear one wrong sound I'm coming in," Nicco said.
I have a question that pertains to this story....how do we feel about SMUT?
I've been going back and forth on whether or not to write it...idek if it would be good. I definitely wouldn't post it if I didn't feel it was good enough though. Please let me know your feelings! And don't forget to vote and comment, I love to see your feedback!
