Nicco sat on his bed holding an ice pack to his eye. He wasn't mad at Vitto for what he did. He honestly felt stupid, he should have never kissed Ginevra. Now her relationship was a mess and she'd probably never talk to him again. A knock on his door caught his attention. He looked up to see Virginia standing there. "What do you want?" Nicco asked.

"I've been thinking Nicco," Virginia said as she walked into the room and sat down on the bed, "I want to build a better relationship with you. I'm tired of all of this fighting and breaking up."

"I've been thinking too," Nicco said, "I think it would be best if we had time apart. I need to focus on myself. Obviously, my life's falling apart."

"I'm pregnant," Virginia said, "At least I think I am." The ice pack that was in his hands dropped to the ground.

"What do you mean you think?" Nicco asked.

"I'm late," Virginia said.

"Okay you're usually a few days late," Nicco said.

"No. I'm really late this time," Virginia said.

"Well, have you taken a test?" Nicco asked.

"Not yet," Virginia said, "I bought one but I was too scared to take it by myself." Nicco took a few deep breaths. If she hadn't taken the test yet then there's a chance she's not actually pregnant.

"Don't worry," Nicco said, "We can do it together." Virginia smiled as she leaned forward pulling him into a hug.

Nicco stood outside the bathroom door staring at it. The ice pack that he'd dropped still lay on his bedroom floor. When the toilet flushed his heartbeat quickened. Virginia opened the door slowly and walked out to stand in front of him. He could see the tears in her eyes but he didn't know if they were happy or sad tears. "It's positive," Virginia said.

Nicco's mouth dropped open as Virginia pulled him into a hug. He didn't know what to say to the girl. There was no way he was ready to be a father right now. "What are we going to do?" Virginia asked, "I mean we aren't even together."

"It's gonna be all right," Nicco assured, "I'm gonna be here. For you and the baby."

"You promise?" Virginia asked.

"I promise," Nicco said.

Nicco laid on his bed staring at the ceiling. Virginia had left awhile ago and he was home alone. Tears streamed down his face as he thought about the future. A knock at the door made him set up in bed. He wiped his eyes as he walked toward the front door. Nicco opened it up to see Ginevra standing there. "Your face," Ginevra said taking a step closer to the boy.

"It's fine," Nicco said. He flinched slightly as her fingers grazed over the bruise. "What are you doing here?"

"I've been thinking a lot about what you said," Ginevra said. Nicco took a deep breath, he couldn't hear this right now. "I just wanted to tell you that I love you. Like you, I think I always have. I was just scared that you'd go back to Virginia and I was completely sure about my own feelings. But if you say you're done with her then I'm ready to try and make this work."

"I can't," Nicco said, tears in his eyes. Now he had to focus on Virginia. He needed to be there for her and the baby.

"What?" Ginevra asked. The look on her face made him want to scream.

"I can't be in a relationship with you," Nicco said.

"If it's because of what happened with Vitto I'm sorry," Ginevra said, "I didn't know he was going to attack you like that."

"No. It's not that," Nicco said.

"What is it then?" Ginevra asked. Nicco sighed. The girl he loved finally love him back and he was about to tell her something that would fuck up everything.

"Virginia is pregnant," Nicco said. The look on Ginevra's face turned from confused to shocked. Her skin visibly paled at the news.

"Ar—are you sure?" Ginevra asked.

"She took a test," Nicco said tears running down his cheek. Ginevra quickly pulled the boys into a hug as he cried into her shoulder. He pulled her body closer, needing the comfort. "I don't know what we're gonna do."

"It'll be okay," Ginevra said as she rubbed his back.

"I'm too young to be a dad," Nicco cried, "I can't do this."

"Look at me," Ginevra said grabbing his cheeks so that he was looking at her, "I know that all of this is really scary. But I believe in you. I know that you can be good at anything you set your mind to, even being a dad."

"I'm just so scared," Nicco said.

"I know," Ginevra said pulling him back into a hug.

"Can you stay for a while?" Nicco asked pulling her into a tighter hug.

"I don't know if that's a good idea," Ginevra said.

"Please," Nicco said, "Nothing is going to happen. I just need someone here." He wasn't lying when he said that. Earlier he had been just as scared but he needed to stay strong for Virginia. Now, he needed someone to cry to. Someone to hold him while he cried.

"I can stay for a little bit," Ginevra said. Was it stupid if her to stay? Probably. She didn't care. The only thing that mattered to her right now was being there for Nicco. She knew now that a relationship with the boy would never work. Even if he and Virginia didn't get back together, which wasn't likely. They would still have a baby that they needed to take care of.

She realized she loved a boy and lost him all in the same day. But her feelings didn't matter at the moment. Nicco needed her now. He'd been there for her during the roughest patch in her life, it was time for her to be there for him during his.
