Yoongi has always been scared of love.
"I could always hook you up with one of my friends," Hoseok, Yoongi's editor says as he picks up his wine glass and sips it. Yoongi deadpans at him.
"Can you not try and force romance on me?" He presses a napkin into his lips, wiping away any evidence of the fancy food he's currently critiquing. He jots a few things down on his notepad and shrugs. "Besides, I don't need romance. I haven't done romance since Kim Seokjin."
Hoseok places his elbow on the table and chin in his palm, his eyes resting knowingly as he looks over at Yoongi.
"Right. And can you once again please tell me about this Kim Seokjin you speak of?"
Without realizing it, Yoongi's eyes become as soft as the smile that forms on his face. "He's my best friend. My other half. We've been inseparable since high school... but I haven't talked to him in a few days. We've just been so busy, but damn I miss hanging out with him. You know, we made a pact once and it was so crazy of us. We agreed that if we weren't married by the age of thirty, we'd marry each other."
"Hmm, right. I also 'do romance' and 'marriage pacts' with my friends."
Yoongi rolls his eyes. "It was just one summer during college." He sighs dreamily. "He was lovely, but he was my best friend. He looked me in my eyes, told me I'm everything he's ever wanted, and I kissed him right on the mouth. But that was just a summer fling, you see. Seokjin moved to Busan and I became a food critic who travels too much. We weren't meant to be anything other than best friends and that's that."
Hoseok chomps down on his food, cocking an eyebrow and then scrunching his nose in disgust. "You need to move on then. Or confess."
"I- Wha- Move on?! Confess?! What are you talking about? He's just my friend. I don't do love, so you don't have to worry about me. Don't be ridiculous."
Hoseok shakes his head in disappointment. "One day you're going to regret being so ignorant. And I love you, but I will tell you that I told you so when it happens."
