Namjoon remembers when Seokjin moved to Songju.
They were both in high school, both had responsibilities of their own, and were drained from the voices of the world. Except Namjoon envied Seokjin at first. He lived in a nice, huge, fancy house, and Namjoon lived in an old container with the rest of the poor people who wished they had what Kim Seokjin had. And yet, Seokjin still never looked truly happy.
Envy turned into curiosity. He and Taehyung would scope out Seokjin's place and take turns guessing what the inside looked like and listing off the things they'd do if they had a house like that. Namjoon recalls feeling the same exact envy to curiosity drive when it came to Taehyung, wishing he lived in an apartment like Taehyung does at first, but then he got curious and became close to Taehyung before realizing that he can't compare his life to Taehyung's. After all, they all have their hardships.
But that's what cranked up Namjoons curiosity for Kim Seokjin back then. If he's rich and has everything he could ever ask for, then how could he have any hardships?
Back then, Namjoon had been constantly striving to be open-minded and learn everything. He wanted to grow wiser each second, resorting to stealing books from the school library and reflecting on everything that is and isn't.
Kim Seokjin isn't just some rich kid who has the world handed to him.
He's someone who Namjoon never expected to get detention with him and Taehyung, and a few other classmates. He and those classmates are people that Namjoon never imagined getting close to, but it happened anyways. Seokjin is someone who seems to wonder quite heavily, weighing on his life as he focuses on who knows what, clearly lost in thought. And Seokjin has emotions just like any other human being, just like Namjoon; he laughs, he cries, he gets angry. Kim Seokjin isn't just some guy Namjoon wishes he could be.
Kim Seokjin is a friend.
Except friends fall apart and move on with life sometimes. Despite their friend group getting along quite well when they're all seven together, things change. Things fall apart. Namjoon and Taehyung fall apart due to petty disagreements, Yoongi and Jungkook split ways when Yoongi got expelled for reasons unknown to Namjoon (though he knows Jungkook blames himself for it), Jimin disappears without a word, and Hoseok starts working at a diner.
