Abhimanyu knew that he wasn't the same person he prided himself in being any longer,
The Great Dr. Abhimanyu Birla.
the one who used to fight for his love, do the right thing even when it hurt and most of all love selflessly with his own selfishness included. now he was an empty shell of the person he once used to be.
His son, his entire dil, was sad, and he couldn't ignore it any longer. The glum expression never seemed to leave his face and he only smiled once or twice when they were in the secluded space of his room. Though the fact that abhir loved him and was comfortable with him gave him immense joy, he knew that he no longer continue this.
He needed to find himself back, by doing the one thing he dreaded the most. Begging for forgiveness from Akshara.
He calls her and asks her to meet him in the park behind her house, the urgency in her voice allows her to agree immediately not thinking of what that place meant to them.
She knows he's here before she seems him, and as he turns to her there's a distraught expression on his face. Her mind first jumps to Abhir's wellbeing but before she can asks, he answers for her, "Abhir teek hain"
He doesn't say anything and really takes her in, for the second time since he's seen her after their long six years. She was still as beutiful as ever, but there was always stress built up in her forehead with her eyebrows creased.
It starts to rain and Akshara mentally chides herself for not checking the weather, her sari had started to dampen and since she couldn't place why Abhimanyu had called her here, she decided to turn back.
"Akshara" He says, with an intensity in his voice she hadn't heard in a long time. And as she turns to meet his eyes, he's looking at her again in that indescribable way that he used to look at her lifetimes ago. "I'm sorry"
She's confused and it's visible through her expressions and he continues stepping closer towards her, "I'm so so sorry for six years ago"
A gasp leaves her and she feels her built up walls crack, no he couldn't do this, not right now. he had many instances to fix it, but he chose to let them go.
"Maine zindagi mein bahut sare galti kiya lekin mein tum se kuch kardiya woh kabhi merko maaphe nahi mil sakte" He tries to maintain a steady voice, and she can tell if it's the rain of her tears streaming down her face no longer. "You believed I loved you the most, but I left you when you needed me the most. when you were fighting for your life, for our son's. Mein janti hoon ki tum kitne ladaye kiya humara abhir ko is duniya mein lekar aane ke lie"
"And I failed to recognize it when I first heard about the truth, because once again my drowning anger ruined things" He says and she her legs give in, too overwhelmed, as she falls onto the concrete seat built around the tree. He's next to her in an instance, on his knees, checking her for injuries.
Once he realizes she's fine, he hesitantly places a hand over hers that are shaking in her lap. "Akshara, you don't need to forgive me. I don't deserve forgiveness, I deserved to keep living like a corpse like how i lived these years. lekin meri mahadev mujhe Abhir bheja, bhale mein is kushee nahin kamaana"
"But you have to know that I wasn't in my right senses that day. I had just lost my sister and now Neil, who I loved immensely. He was always there for me, he understood my anger towards my father while everyone else viewed me as selfish for not forgiving him. And he had been through so much already, where I couldn't even help him. He had helped me so much in life and to see him lifeless like that knowing that he was never coming back no matter how much i prayed or cried broke something in me" His voice cracks, and he doesn't even try to hold back his own tears.
