Time heals all wounds, or that's what some told themselves. The truth was that sometimes some wounds are too deep and nothing could ever heal them.

Abhimanyu shifted in his sleep but he awoke slightly when he smelt her fragrance. She was asleep with her head on his shoulder, while his was on hers and abhir was sleeping peacefully between them. He jolted up, this caused Akshara to stir but instead of waking up she instead snuggled deeper into his shoulder. His heart beat rapidly in his chest and he was stumped on how they had got here. Last night was spent reading stories to abhir with laughter that filled them with warmth, he pieced that the two of them, exhausted, must have fallen asleep.

Akshara's other hand was wrapped around his arm while the other was placed on top of Abhir's head, the emotions that had been tightly hidden away rose up in him again. The emotional intimacy and domesticity that only they ever shared.

This was wrong, but felt so right. Like this was what he missed in the last six years that had come back to him.

Abhimanyu heaved a deep breath, he knew that the time had come where they should move back to udaipur. Jaipur was just a safe haven, a dream that was at the brink of collapse. His chest hurt physically as he drew himself away from them and he shut his eyes as Akshara tried reaching for him before she tilted towards Abhir instead.

He jogged down the stairs, hiding away all his emotions shut into the depths of his heart. He had done it before and he could do it again. However, he didn't leave, couldn't find the heart to. Instead he flipped open his laptop and sat himself down on the table after he decided to get some work done.

He twisted the pen in his hand, it had been an hour yet his mind wouldn't concentrate on the reports in front of him. Aarohi had kept him regularly updated on medical cases and special patients that only needed his help. Reality would hit them again, he hadn't even thought of the aftermath of once Akshara recalled him and their past

"Docman" Abhir rubbed his eyes, his voice broke Abhimanyu out of his reverie. Abhimanyu turned and before he could have said anything, Abhir pulled on his sleeve motioning him to lift him up.

Abhimanyu obeyed and sat Abhir down on his lap, yet confusion reigned his features. "Kuch hua?"

"I missed spending time with you docman" Abhir hugged Abhimanyu, his voice was still sleepy. "We don't get to spend much time just us, and everything is so easy with you. it feels like home"

"Abhir..." Abhimanyu had lost his ability to speak, he swallowed his tears. "i love you so much junior"

"i love you more p-docman" Abhir sat up this time, he had once again accidently got caught up in the moment and called abhimanyu his papa. This was rude of him towards Abhinav wasn't it? But why did he feel this urge to call Abhimanyu his papa, he had certainly done everything for him and he couldn't lie, in his heart he felt it, truly.

"You're happy right? Now mumma remembers you and all your memories?" Abhimanyu asked with a soft smile.

"Very!" Abhir exclaimed with a wide smile, yet it soon feel a minute later. "But I'm sad she doesn't remember you"

Abhimanyu stayed silent, and tried to ignore the prick in his heart. It was for the best, and Abhir didn't know that he was living on borrowed time. "It's okay, as long as she remembers what's most important"
