Akshara takes a deep breathe before pushing the door open, to reveal an anxious Abhinav perched upon her bed. His eyes held evident worry and his hands were frantic. 

She had finished telling her family about her condition and spent the whole day amidst them explaining herself and how everything would go down. It was very emotional, and now it was well after midnight that everyone had let her go reluctantly. 

"Abhinav, aap?" She asks, she knows he must want to talk to her one on one about it, but right now she was exhausted and the emotional outburst from her family caused her more dread for the upcoming. 

"Akshara" He rushes towards her and she does her best not to talk a step back, she doesn't want to appear rude. "I didn't know- I mean why didn't you tell me?"

She notices tears in his eyes, and looks away feeling a tinge of guilt. "I didn't know how and it all happened very recently but luckily there is a doctor who promised good signs of survival and no side-effects"

"Maybe we shouldn't get divorced right now" Abhinav says after a pregnant pause and she turns to him with wide eyes. Their divorce was nearly finalized, it was practically done but he could always decline to sign the form and they would be brought to another court trial. 

"Abhinav-

"No" Abhinav says, "This adds stress onto you. It isn't healthy we can talk about this after you're recovered"

She starts feeling overwhelmed, not knowing exactly what to say. Over the years, she's gotten stronger and stood firm on her ground as well as learnt to fight for her beliefs but there were still times where she faltered. 

"Divorce is the best option" Akshara says slowly, "It wouldn't be fair to you -- to keep this unnecessary thread between us present. It's actually for the best, because even if something did happen it will allow you to not be tied to me"

She does her best to make him understand and he gives in reluctantly, "Alright, Akshara. We'll get a divorce but I think it's best we tell Abhir about it as well"

Unknown to them, Abhir was standing outside the door with his mouth hung slightly agape as he digested the news. He swallowed hard and tried blinking back his tears, his whole family had been acting weird today they had sent him early in the morning to his docman's house and even when he came back they sent him to his room. 

It was because his parents were divorcing.

He had unfortunately aquired enough knowledge to know what a divorce was. He didn't know why his family was falling apart like this, at first it was his docman and mumma and now his happy kasauli life was disappearing too. 

It was then where it struck him, what if he was the problem? Is that why everyone was splitting away from each other? because of him?

Feeling overwhelmed, he runs outside mainly because he doesn't want to spend another suffocating moment in the house. As he's running, his tears slide down his face at a rapid speed, he's enormously hurt but mainly confused his small heart not being able to comprehend everything. 

He doesn't even realize when he runs into Abhimanyu, but once abhimanyu sees him he immediately drops down to his height and abhir doesn't waste another second, in hugging him tightly. 

"Abhir! Kya hua?" Abhimanyu asks, immensely concerned. Abhir's sobs don't quiet down anytime soon, but Abhimanyu rubs his back assuredly till he calms down. 

"I don't want to stay at home right now, can i come to your house and sleep?" Abhir asks in a fragile voice, "please"

Abhimanyu's at a loss for words but he knows that Abhir is going to take time to tell him what had put him in such a state.
