Abhimanyu had shut himself in his room for the past two days, barely interacting with anyone in his family. He only allowed Roohi to come in, and they would spend the day playing and finishing her homework. Through everything that he had felt he had lost, Roohi was someone who he cherished as throughout even her own period of sadness she had been a bundle of joy.

A part of him knew that Akshara would take abhir to Kasauli, they were probably prepping their house back. He put together, that when the case dates were set, only Akshara would be present meaning that he wouldn't get to see Abhir again till he made a trip to Kasauli. The thought itself made him want to book the tickets immediately, but he knew he couldn't.

A sharp knock comes at his door, and he sighs knowing it's probably another one of their houseworkers giving him food. He had denied every time, as he had quite literally lost his appetate. It wasn't only losing Abhir again, but it was also when he recalled his conversation with Akshara. An enormous surge of guilt would overcome him, and suddenly all his pain and sorrows seemed invalid.

As he heard the click of the door, he turned to see his mother walking in looking sullen. She wordlessly sat beside him with her head hung low.

"Abhi beta, I'm sorry" She whispers, unable to look at him. "I just wanted you to be happy, and I know that you love both your kids a lot so I thought that-

"I know" He says, because he's tired and he can't take any fighting or guilt any longer. "It's okay, but I know that whatever I did made Abhir happy and that's all that matters"

She nods, as she's also finally give in. "I know a part of you thought they would stay in udaipur"

He chuckles humorlessly, his mother did know selective parts of him well. "I feel guilty for feeling that way"

She sighs, she could see her son was in pain but shouting and screaming at him was giving him more. After all, he had lost more since it was his actual son. "It's okay Abhi. kabhi kabhi zindagi mein hota hain kuch cheez, woh humara control mein nahi hain"

"Mein shivji ka mandir ja rahe hoon" She informs him, hope filling her tone. "Tum bhi aana?"

He didn't feel like leaving the cofines of his room, but he needed a peace of mind to keep moving on so he agreed.

Abhimanyu returns earlier than Manjiri and sends a driver to go pick her up whenever she desires, he didn't want to leave his mother but there were more festivities she wanted to partake in plus she had a few people she knew so he deemed it safe enough.

As he makes his way into his room,  he's pleasantly greeted by the sight of Roohi drawing something, with her colored markers and pencils sprawled all over his bed.

"Rooh, ab tumara bedtime hain" He says, before sitting next to her. She doesn't turn to him, instead continues filling in a space on her paper.

After a beat she turns to him, and holds up her paper while displaying her toothy grin. Her hair is untucked out of her braid, showing how tireless she's been working by creating multiple pictures and cards for him, "yeh meri best artwork hain poppy aur tumara liye. I want to cheer up your mood"

His heart melts, and he takes the artwork from her small hands and admires her handicraft before pulling her in for a hug, "Thank you Rooh, bahut sundar hain aap kee tarah"

She giggles before responding, "Mausi bhi aise hi bolti hai"

He swallows, and quickly changes the topic. "I love you but now it's time to sleep. aaj school hain na"

He carries her back to her room and places her in her bed, before jogging down the stairs into his living room.

Sleep was slowing not becoming an option these days, and he still had to await his mother since she was at the temple. He sat on the couch, leaning back before throwing an arm over his eyes forbidding any light to enter as he mulled over his thoughts.

A couple of minutes later, an unsettling sensation settles in him as he hears light footsteps which effectively catch his attention. As he blinks his eyes, he cannot fathom the sight in front of him,

Abhir

He had a smile on his face as he made his way to stand in front of him, Surprise masked his features before morphing into awe. He had to be dreaming, he thought, it wasn't the first time.

His hands hover over Abhir before Abhir himself speaks up, "tum sapne nahi dekhre hoon"

A sound of disbelief escapes his lips, as his eyes moisten before he pulls Abhir in for a hug. After several rewarding moments they pull apart, and Abhimanyu can't help but ask the obvious question.

"Tum idhere kaise?"

Abhir glances at the entrance of the door, but at the absence of his mumma he decides to fill in, "Mumma aaya meri saath, lekin woh baar kaade hain"

Abhimanyu's on his feet in an instant, and without wasting another second he picks up Abhir's in his arms before making his way outside. It was a windy night, and he could see the ends of her saree dancing against the wind, as she wrapped her arms around herself fighting off the cold. He stood there for a moment admiring her, she had brought abhir back to him even after everything?

He didn't need to call her name for her to feel his presence and in a moment she turned around, a hesistant smile mades it's way onto her face as she didn't know how to greet him. She knew that he must have thought the complete opposite to what she had done, when he found out she went to Kasauli.

"Andar aao, bahut tanda hain" He offers lamely, and even Abhir turns to him with questionable eyes.

"Nahi it's okay" She shrugs, "I have to get going anyways, I just wanted you to meet Abhir"

A cold sensation overcomes him, and he's suddenly finding it hard to breathe. Maybe she hadn't come back to Udaipur, maybe she had just wanted to let Abhir tell him a goodbye. As if she read his mind the next second she clarified, "Back to Goenka Villa, not Kasauli"

"Lekin aap dono idhere kaise?" He asks, desperately awaiting her answer.

"I wasn't going to leave in the first place" She says, shaking her head. "We had gone back to Kasauli to pack up our belongings to permenently move to Udaipur. So we could co-parent, and go for joint custody instead?"

He can't believe his ears, she wanted to apply for joint custody instead of sole custody. He had done the unforgiveable six years ago, but she still was willing to move on and allow Abhir to live with him.

"Akshara, I don't- Thank you so much" He breathes out, "Tumne yeh nahi-

"Don't thank me" She cuts him off, and sends a warning look towards Abhir. Letting him know that they couldn't give too much away in front of him. "Anyways, Abhir would also miss you a lot in Kasauli and this way everyone will get to adjust to the changes slowly without rushing in to stuff"

"Bilkul" Abhimanyu says readily, "Junior, Whenever you feel ready to stay at our house then come, otherwise you should stay with your mumma and papa."

Abhir grins and gives him a thumbs up, before scrunching his brows together, "lekin mein roz aa sakte haina"

He lets out a laugh that makes him look younger by years, and as he agrees by tickling Abhir, Akshara finally feels as if she's made the right decision. They spend some more time in each other's company before Abhimanyu gives in and lets Abhir run to his mumma.

As he watches them drive off, it finally settles in him that they were back again and that they were all progressing forward in their relationships.

***

next chapters gonna be filled with my fav and only acceptable maa-beta duo, abhir and akshu. I know these have been heavy with Abhimanyu's pov, but it will change and throughout the story i'll be balancing between them.

I've always wanted so much more of Abhir and Akshu instead of Abhinav and Abhir, so sorry not sorry there will be no abhir-abhinav bonding in this (other than snippets)
