Akshara awoke very early by the sound of old gazalles and the fragments of light seeping through her window. She looked to her left to see, Abhir cuddling onto her. It didn't disturb her in the slightest but brought her warmth. She ran her fingers through his hair, and tried very hard to recollect her memories. This was her son, she had given birth to him there had to be a few memories that she could access.
However, as nothing came up tears pooled in her eyes. She didn't know if she was a good mother or if she could be a good mother, all her learning experiences were erased from her memory. What is she failed him?
No I won't let that happen. And Abhimanyu promised that my memory would come back soon, and it was only short term. She thinks to herself.
With one last glance towards Abhir's sleeping figure she gets out of bed and decides to start her morning. She places all her clothes in the closet, as well as organizes her beauty products in the bathroom. The house is pretty clean she notices, and though the architecture was old it still held a sense of freshness in it.
After a long shower, one where she spent all her time looking for links to help her access her memories. She dressed herself up, in a dark blue anarkali and let her hair loose up till her shoulders. She didn't know how she used to dress herself before, but now she just did whatever she felt fit.
She didn't know if she was any different from before as she was still trying to compass the shell of the person she was before. Deciding to try and make some breakfast, she descends down the staircase. The houseworkers seemed to have arrived a couple of minutes prior and they help her prepare breakfast. Feeling rather proud, she climbs up the stairs to wake up Abhir.
"Abhir" She shakes him slowly, and he stirs in his sleep. "It's time to wake up and have some breakfast"
Abhir groans but after a few more shakes he finally awakens rubbing his eyes. It takes him a couple of minutes to adjust to his new surroundings but when he finally does a small smile appears on his face. "Okay mumma"
Akshara smiles and shows Abhir to the bathroom, she doesn't know if she should help him brush his teeth but Abhir notices her hesitation and does it himself, telling her that he's a big boy. Once they're all done, Abhir links fingers with her and playfully jumps down the stairs trying to skip steps.
"Aram se, Abhir" Abhimanyu's voice fills the somber living and both Akshara and Abhir's eyes light up at his arrival. Abhir doesn't waste any seconds before leaving her finger and rushing towards Abhimanyu.
Abhimanyu smiles as he lifts him into his arms spinning around due to the impact. Abhir whispers something in Abhimanyu's ear, and he sends a quick glance at Akshara before playfully scolding Abhir.
Akshara watches them, and a warm sensation fills her heart. This is what family feels like, she thinks to herself. But quickly reprimands herself, Abhimanyu wasn't her family nor was he Abhirs. How could she think anything like that, but more importantly why did that thought cross her mind?
"You two are close" She says stepping closer towards them, and Abhimanyu realizes that this was going to be hard to explain. "Very close"
"Well we met a lot, and Abhir grew attached. You remember I told you our families are close family friends, that's how I know all that stuff about you" He says smoothly, and Abhir keeps quiet feeling rather down that his mother couldn't remember any of them.
She believes him, mainly because every time she's around him she feels like no harm would come to her. "Well you're just in time, I made breakfast!"
The childlike glee on her face causing his eyes to soften at her, she slightly pushes the both of them towards the dining and brings out each dish with excitement. She picks up a piece and holds it out for Abhimanyu.
