Akshara was a friend to grief. She had associated with it early on, not really knowing the complex feelings. She used to detest the sound of tears, especially her sisters - maybe that's why as they grew older she made it her life's mission to make sure aarohi never shed any tears. She was too little to understand that her papa had left them forever, and when aarohi held sirat maa in her arms and sobbed, the feeling of panic and anxiety hit her like a pile of bricks. It was since then that she used to hide in the cabinet, and do her best to breathe after aarohi hurled insults at her.
She had lost so much so young. She barely remembered her Naira mumma, and it was maybe because of that, which made her feel so much more attached to her. Growing up she would associated little things with her mother and pretend that the both of them did it, and every time mimi or bade papa told her she reminded them of Naira, her heart filled with so much pride and her happiness reached it's peak for the rest of her day. Yet she knew that they weren't ever coming back, and slowly she was neglected by her own family.
Her khanaji had been kind to her and with her naira mumma's help she had been lead towards Abhimanyu. Her comfort place. The one person who she could be herself around, completely with all her flaws combined and he accepted her. Even worshipped the ground she walked on, making sure not even the smallest pain reached her.
But that one fated day, everything came crashing down. She still doesn't know to this day if she made the right decision, boarding a bus and going to Kasauli. Granted there were more reasonable options and choices, but life had choosen that path for her and so she embraced it. Even after everythign that they had been through in life, that deep and raw love she felt towards Abhimanyu didn't falter and just as things were slowly going back towards the right path, life decides to become cruel again.
Her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach as she watched his body collapse onto the floor, she can't seem to process the commotion around her as everything blurs into one noise. Her complete attention is on him, and she pushes past everyone running towards him as if her own life depended on it.
She couldn't let him go, not like this. She immediately, pulls his body towards her and makes efforts to awaken him.
Blood.
It decorated her hands, till she couldn't recognize her own skin color. She didn't exactly know if it was his or the blood from before but her eyes pooled with tears.
"Abhi please" She sobbed, shaking him not caring about any further damage she could cause. She felt physical pain in her chest at his condition.
It was to no avail, and her heart felt like it was ripping apart. She hated the fact that for a split second, she forgot she was responsible to Abhir. She selfishly cried and held onto him before her family had to pull her back harshly to put him onto a stretcher.
Abhir jumps into her arms not caring about her warnings of the blood, and her breathing begins to stabilise. Her emotions are high considering, she herself had just recovered from brain surgery and had regained her memories. She had been emotional ever since, and even the smallest things made her cry. His accident had added petroleum to the burning fire, and considering her feelings towards him being involved everything had been worse.
The wait at the hospital had been even more painful, Tauji had announced there was no need for any surgery but then hadn't come out to give them any other news of his condition. It wasn't until a good hour that Rohan came out, telling them that he was out of danger. He had fallen unconcious due to the impact and attained fractures on his arm with a couple of bruises near his chest —nothing too major.
She pushes the door open, one eye closed not mentally prepared to see him hurt or lying with his eyes closed on the hospital bed but to her relief he's sitting up and listening to instructions from another nurse. Abhir doesn't waste any seconds before pushing past her, and jumping onto him.
