There's been a huge change in Kassie the past two weeks. I love that her personality is back to normal, but it's as if she's overcompensating for something else. She's hanging onto me like I might disappear and doing everything in her power to make sure I know she loves me. I feel like something is going on, but I don't want to doubt or accuse my wife of anything.

"Mr. Henderson," Deborah called as I tapped a pen on my desk. "Your 9 o'clock is here."

"Send him in." The operator of one of our subsidiaries has a high turnover rate. I wanted to find the problem because it's easier to replace him rather than ten workers every two months.

During the meeting I figured out that all the employees who quit worked the first shift. That means the issue is  the supervisor. I let the operator know that he needs to have a critical discussion with the supervisor because if the turnover rate doesn't decrease she'll be out of a job.

I want my employees to have positive experiences. That's how you get them to stay and recruit other workers as well. When I finally had free time I called Kassie to check in. My first call went to voicemail and so did my second. Kassandra never misses my calls. My mind went to the worst. I checked her location on my phone. I put the address in google and it was a Women's Clinic. When I read the details my entire body was enraged. I called Kassie's phone again and there was no answer.

"Deborah, I need to step out. It's an emergency." I grabbed my keys out of the desk drawer. I could hear my heart beating in my ears the entire drive. I told myself over and over again that Kassandra wouldn't lie to me. We share everything, she could've come to me. I'd always support her no matter how it makes me feel.

I parked my car beside hers. I knocked on the clinic door, but they wouldn't let me enter. The receptionist said it was for safety reasons. I paced back and forth in front of my car until I saw Kassandra walk out.

Her lip quivered when she saw me. I went to hug her. "Kassie, why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want you to hate me." Tears poured down her face.

"I could never hate you, but I'm so disappointed in you Kassandra. You lied to me for weeks. You promised to never do that." I looked down, noticing that she was gripping a sonogram and a stack of papers in her hand. "It's okay Kassie." I tried to calm her down as her tears wet my shirt. As hurt and upset as I was, I couldn't show it.

"I'm sorry I lied." The words came out muffled against my body. She looked up at me. "I couldn't do it. Once they did the ultrasound and I saw the heart flickering, I just couldn't. I'm too weak for that Steven."

"You're not weak, baby girl. Kass, you're one of the strongest people I know. Don't worry, I'll do everything. I'll be everything you need." Those were honest words, I'd do anything for her. She doesn't ask for help so I always offer.

I don't understand why she'd rather struggle than ask for help. I attributed it to her being disappointed throughout life, but her mom is reliable too.
