3 MONTHS LATER
The drive to Meredith's office was long, but she has legal documents I need to sign. We were making progress in our case against Josephine. Her request for visitation would most likely be denied. Meredith was able to prove Josephine is emotionally unstable. However, she still has to prove Josephine would be a danger to the children if not the court could grant supervised visits.
I made a quick stop to buy diapers. Something you need a lot of with two babies. Moriah gifted me a subscription for a year, but I always purchase extra.
"Wow." A voice huffed. I turned my head and rolled my eyes. "I guess you're happy you didn't get that abortion." Evelyn remarked.
"Of course I am. Don't you have a dick to suck? There are laws against stalking." I pushed my cart towards the register.
"Kassandra..."
"Bitch don't you dare. Whatever you're about to say, I advise you to swallow it." I went to check out as she walked away. This isn't the first time I've seen her, but this is the first time she's had the nerve to say something to me.
I left the store and finished my drive to Meredith's law firm. She welcomed me with open arms.
"How are you Kassie?" She closed her office door as I sat down.
"I'm doing great."
"I've filed all the necessary paperwork including documentation concerning the well-being of your children. I'm waiting for her to take another adverse action. When she does, you or Steven absolutely have to report it to the police. From there we can file a restraining order." Meredith spoke fast.
"Sounds great. Thanks again." I replied then went for the secondary information I wanted to know. "How's everything with Steven's dad?"
Meredith smirked. "I really like him, Kassandra. He's a sweetheart. We agreed that he'd have to stop drinking before things between us got serious. He hasn't had a drink in over a month."
My mouth dropped open, I was shocked. "That's so good. I mean great."
"He moved out of their house last week. I'm surprised he didn't tell you and Steven. He's renting a house close to mine until he finds a house he loves."
Steven told me, but I still had to check.
"Have you thought about moving together?" I questioned. I'm worse than Raven right now.
"We have, but we've decided to take it slow. The main reason being children. I have a son from my previous marriage, I would like at least one more. I don't think he wants to start over."
"Have you asked him?"
"No, but what almost 60 year-old wants children? I don't want to scare him away." Meredith placed the pen in her hand on the desk.
