I'm standing watching after Soul who just walked out the back door, wanting nothing more than to call him to come back to me, knowing I can't. I don't know how long I'm standing there for, even when he's no longer in my sight, but Sarra comes into the kitchen and stands next to me, putting her arms around my shoulder.

"He'll be fine. They do this kinda stuff often enough. 'Im 'n' Doc taught you, di'n't they? So ya know they're good." She tries to reassure me, but it's not helping. "Come on, Gunner and the others are hidin' out in the garden, 'n' on the porch. Let's get some shut-eye. I made Kaden's bed up for ya." She steers me out of the kitchen and then leaves me in Soul's room.

I lay down, but when sleep refuses to take my worries away, and I get thirsty, I take the blanket and grab a book off one of the shelves, and head down the stairs as quietly as possible, so I don't wake Stacy or Sarra.

I put the blanket on the sofa and the book on the coffee table with my mobile, and then I head into the kitchen to pour myself a glass of water. While I'm drinking it, I try to spot the guys hiding in the garden, but I don't see anyone. They're good. It means if anyone was looking for me, they wouldn't see my guards to know I'm here. With a sigh, I head into the front room to read, hoping it's boring enough to shut my mind down so I can sleep.
.
.

I'm startled awake by a noise coming from the kitchen. I reach out for my phone to check the time, and see it's only been just over an hour. I wasn't expecting Soul back so soon. "Soul? Is that you? Are you alright? I didn't think you'd be home just yet." I yawn as I sit up on the sofa I'd fallen asleep on, reading that book, which turned out to be a Harley manual. It wasn't boring, but it helped shut up everything else going on in my head so I could sleep.

Before I've opened my eyes from yawning, and stretching the kinks in my neck from sleeping awkwardly, I hear movement just to my left. It's so close it startles me to snap my head in that direction, and when I look up to see why he hasn't answered me, I get a smack to the head, which knocks me for six. What the!? I'm then thrown back on the sofa with a weight falling on top of me. I'm half asleep, so I wasn't prepared to be shoved to the sofa, and as they haven't spoken, it can't be Soul, so I'm slow to fight back, especially when they hit me in the head.

I get my wits about me and try to buck them off of me, but the best I can do is get my right arm free, so I pull my fist back and let it fly. I manage to punch them right in the face, and I shift my leg to knee them in the balls at the same time, making them grunt.

I'm just about to stick my fingers in their eyes when I'm hit in the head even harder this time. A sudden wave of nausea hits me as pain erupts from my temple. Stars explode behind my closed eyes as my surroundings fade with the overwhelming pain that throbs behind my eyes. I can tell my body is still moving as I attempt to fight, which elicits a groan from me because of the pain! All the times I've felt pain, nothing can even compare to the pain I find I'm losing myself in right now.

I may be exaggerating when I think about all the shit I've actually been through, but I haven't had that kind of pain for so long, it feels like the most pain I've experienced. It's so bad that I lose all my motor skills, giving whoever it is time to grab my wrists and tie something thin, cold and hard, tightly around them. The pain is slow to recede but my mind is panicking, because Stacy and Sarra are sleeping upstairs, I just hope whoever has attacked me doesn't wander up there.

My body is floating in a sea of pain that has me on the edge of consciousness. My eyes blink furiously as I try to see who my attacker is, and my heart almost gives out in terror, when they focus long enough to see it's fucking Jack!
