"Kiss and Crawl right back
Under the covers
Down for another
Hour in the bed
Now I'm here instead"

It had been a week since I came home and I was starting to absolutely hate it.
Dad was off.
He was off on so many levels.
And I couldn't even talk to Mom as she was extremely infuriated at him.
I swear that they used to fight like Neanderthals and made up for it on sexual terms but this... This was terrible. Mom used to get mad at him, sure, but not to this level. She was practically spitting fire at every mention of his name.
The divorce was unexpected for everyone. Literally everyone.
I remembered what Jay had once told me about it, "I've never seen two people who can't communicate— well, like people— yet stay so emotionally drawn to each other"
He was right. Leonardo and Chelsea Xander had a rough start.
I had heard it from Lara herself when I was young, but when Dad succumbed to the freeze, he became more... Human...
I knew all about his shitty childhood. Mom had told me not to hurt him because we were all that he had, even though he seemed to take things for granted. I knew all about his misfortune.
But I could bet on my silver BMW that somewhere in Dad's heart, he loved Mom.
He loved her just as much as myself.
He has always cared for her with his actions more than his words. Dad might be rude but if Mom ever needed him by her side, he would always be there.
They were a match made in hell and heaven.
"Did anything else happen at work, hmm?" She smiled and rested her chin on her fist. Even at 45, Mom was gorgeous. It was something that even Dad never hesitated to admit.
"No. It was boring, I told you. I did expect my first day to be more fun actually..."
Mom grunted, "There's nothing fun about that stupid blue building"
"Why are you and Dad behaving like literal zombies?"
"Your dad," She scoffed, "He's always been a zombie. Dead on the inside, every damn time"
That was it.
My last thread of patience had snapped.
"Why are you behaving like this? I don't understand. You've been roasting Dad ever since I got here and I'm not trying to protect him but I deserve to know, Mom. Did something else happen?"
My mom looked away, staring at her tablet. There was a pained frown on her face.
"Nothing happened" She mumbled.
"Mom, don't do that... You can't lie to me"
"I promise that there's nothing wrong, sweetheart" She mustered another smile.
I sighed, "Dad said that you're seeing someone"
She froze and looked up, "What else did he say?"
"He asked if I knew the guy... Are you really talking shit about Dad because of your new relationship?"
