Chelsea grinned. She was sitting right next to Lucy on her bed.

"You're already blushing, sweetheart. Might as well save some for him."

"Mom!" Lucy groaned while throwing a pillow. The playful women eventually giggled.

I sighed.

Danny had called Lucy in the afternoon to inform her that he'd be returning home tomorrow morning. My little girl had been extremely happy with the news. Not even her usual exhaustion could erase the silly grin off her face.

That boy really had her wrapped around his finger.

Or she had him.

I couldn't decide.

After the party last night, Danny called me as well. He had in fact lied to Lucy that he'd be arriving late in the morning, when in reality he was planning to reach before she wakes up just to surprise her.

They certainly were idiots in love.

"Goodnight, sweetheart." Chelsea kissed her head while heading out of the room. I closed her door while whispering the same.

"So, Mr.Xander, have you prepared everything necessary for your son-in-law to be here?"

"He's not my son-in-law," I glared at her while heading over to my study.

"Oh, he will be. Probably by next year," she chuckled.

I sat down at my desk, "Are you staying over?"

"Do you want me to?" She raised a brow.

"I have a few meetings now..."

"Hmm. I'll go home then. Goodnight, Mr.Xander," she smiled.

Just as she was about to head out the door, I stopped her, "Wait."

"You're going to cancel the meetings?" She smirked.

"No... I... I want us to have dinner. Coming weekend."

"Oh okay. Lucy can come with Danny-"

"No." I frowned, "It will be just you and me."

Chelsea blinked a couple of times and fidgeted with her fingers, "A-are you serious?"

"Yes. I need to talk to you."

She gulped, "Why can't you say it now?"

"I need time," I whispered, "I'll pick you up on Sunday. 7sharp."

"Okay..." She drawled and hurried out of my room.

I could tell that she was nervous. Excited even. That was even better. If she was fanaticizing about me confessing her love for her, she was going to be extremely disappointed.

That was good.

It would give her more of a reason to want Trent.

[~ Danny's POV ~]

I practically paced up the stairs and ended up on the front lawn. As usual, Mr.Xander was in the kitchen, sipping coffee. Mr.Campbell was sitting by the kitchen island when he spotted me first. "Ah, it looks like the doc is back," he grinned.

"It's good to see you-"

"Where do you think you're going?" Mr.Xander shot me a glare.

I immediately retraced my steps. It was incredible how his booming voice could take me back in time. I always felt like a child in front of him.
