"And I should just tell you to leave 'cause I
Know exactly where it leads, but I
Watch us go 'round and 'round each time"

While typing away at my laptop, I heard a knock on my door. "Come in" I hummed.

"Mr.Xander, would you prefer having your lunch here or...?" Sonia asked.

"I'll be downstairs"

She nodded and closed the door behind her.

It was a relief that Kelly wasn't around. Lara had sent me her deepest apologies and I decided against taking aggravated action on Kelly, just for her sake.

Alvarez was the one who suggested that Sonia— his wife— had been looking for a job. She didn't mind staying the night since he could do the same, hence I was convinced to hire her.

She was far, far better than Kelly.

"Dad?" I heard Lucy's voice outside.

"You can come in, Cupcake"

She entered and closed the door behind her. Lucy was in a silky robe that was covering her bikini underneath. I wish she'd wear more covered ones but a part of me was relieved that she was only swimming at our home pool.

My baby had been very quiet all week and Danny even enquired if she was sick. But what surprised me was that my Cupcake hadn't met with Chelsea at all.

"You're not busy are you?"

"Just finishing up. What's wrong?"

Her face was slightly pale as she leaned back on the door while shuffling her feet, "Promise me that you won't get mad"

"Is it a boy?"

"What? No," She shook her head, "It's about Mom"

After that reckless one-night stand with Chelsea, we hadn't talked to each other. Hell, I hadn't even seen her. Now that my daughter brought her up, I was beginning to miss her again.

"What about your mom?" I sighed.

"Did... Did she really... Cheat?"

I stiffened.

"Who told you that?"

"She told me herself... That night when I slept at her place. Did you... Know?"

"Of course. She told me when you were a few months old"

"And you did nothing?" Lucy stared at me wide-eyed.

My headache was already building, "There's a scar on your mother's cheek. I caused that..."

She blinked a couple of times, "You- You're joking..."

I leaned back in my chair while loosening my tie.

"You hit her? What did you do to her?" Lucy looked furious.

"Cupcake... There's no excuse for what we have done to each other... It was all-" I searched for the right word "-Circumstances. But you came into our lives and you changed that"

She was about to head out of the door when I got up, "Don't leave, Lucy. Please. If you're going to hear about this, you're going to hear the whole part. I don't want you to misunderstand anything"

Lucy swallowed the lump in her throat and quietly sat down on the chair in front of me, "Thank you" I whispered and poured her a glass of tea.

"I never thought that I'd have to have this conversation one day. With you," I sighed, "But you deserve to know as much"
