"Yeah, you can start over, you can run free
You can find other fish in the sea
You can pretend it's meant to be
But you can't stay away from me"

Nick had texted me saying that he would pick me up in an hour. I was excited to say the least. But there was a knock on my wall right then, and I looked up to find Danny beside Jay.

What was this about?

"There's something that I need to tell you," Danny mumbled. It was rare to see him wear a grim expression.

"Oh... Sit down" I beckoned to the chair next to me.

"You kids want any coffee?" Jay grinned at us and we shook our heads, "Coffee haters" He grumbled while walking away.

"So, what's wrong?" I glanced at Danny.

I tried to keep myself occupied with my laptop but it was proving to be difficult since he looked utterly stunning in a black suit and shirt.

He hesitated, "How... Er... How are you?"

"I'm fine. Everything's fine" I sighed, "You?"

"I'm not fine" His jaw tensed and his eyes turned sharp, "Nicholas isn't who you assume to be"

I froze.

"What...?"

"Yes, Lucy. He's a spoilt brat who's the only heir to his father's company. Nicholas Shaw is the kind of boy that you'll find in clubs surrounded by multiple women"

I stared at Danny for a while, my brows furrowed.

"What are you talking about?"

"Please, trust me. I've done my research" His eyes turned soft, almost pleading.

I stared back at the computer screen, "Maybe, that's what he did in the past. But it's not who he is today. You know nothing about him" My glare returned to Danny.

"Lucy, please, I... I even talked to the girl he invited to his place a couple of weeks back"

I gulped, "She might be his friend..."

"How damn naive can you be?!" He snapped.

Danny had never done this.

Never.

For a while, I felt scared.

His eyes were so dark.

"Don't you understand? They are not friends, Lucy. That bastard is cheating on you. Don't try defending him!"

A few moments of silence later, realisation settled on me.

"Did... Did Dad put you up to this?"

He stared at me in disbelief, "No Lucy. I did everything myself"

"You stalked my boyfriend?"

What the hell was he trying to pull?

"Lucy... I... I did it for your sake. He doesn't deserve you"

I stared at Danny's eyes.

They weren't the warm ones I remembered.

There was nothing warm about him anymore.

"Can you please go?" I whispered while looking away.

"Lucy... You still don't believe me? Ask him then. Has he talked about his past? About anything? As far as I know, nobody here seems to know much about him. He's clearly planning something, that will-"
