The first night sleeping alone was difficult for Giselle. She was so use to sleeping in bed with Mason, so not having him around made her have trouble sleeping. Honestly, it took her hours before she could properly fall asleep. She wanted to go to his house so bad, but she knew Gilbert and Momma would not allow that.

By the time Giselle had finally fallen asleep, it was already close to two in the morning. She had to get up in a few hours for work, and she was definitely going to be feeling tired during the day. It was her fault for not sleeping, but it wasn't really hurt fault that she couldn't fall asleep.

Mason didn't have it much easier. He stayed up until almost midnight working on his car, since he didn't feel tired at all. Once he had started feeling tired, he had headed inside and laid down in his bed. The bed felt empty and cold, unlike Giselle's bed felt when he stayed with her. He was glad she was better, but he really wished that he could've stayed.

He hadn't wanted to overstay his welcome though, so the moment he knew that Giselle was better, he packed his things up and went home. It hurt both of them, but they didn't want to upset the rest of the Grape family. Gilbert already had a bit of a vendetta with Mason, and staying too long after Giselle got better would've made the vendetta worse.

The next morning, Mason went to see Giselle at work. It had been her first official day back, and he wanted to see how she was doing. If she was having trouble, or looked like she was overworking herself, he was going to make her take a break. He didn't care if that meant he had to fight with her boss over it or not. He also knew if the boss gave him hell for trying to help Giselle, he could go fetch Gilbert, and Gilbert would help him handle the boss.

Giselle's boss was a very understanding man though. He was an older gentleman, and he took Giselle's health very seriously. He had even been worried about her coming back too early, but she insisted she was better and needed to work. He knew a bit about her home life and why she needed to work. To be honest, he was a bit disappointed in her mother for putting so much weight on the twins' shoulders.

He helped Giselle in any way he could, even though it didn't really do much at times. He had paid her the entire time she was out, even though she had told him that he didn't have to. If she wasn't working, then she didn't deserve to be paid, at least, in her mind that's how it was. The old man believed she deserved to be paid, especially after he heard how bad her injuries were after her accident.

Anyhow, when Mason visited, he could tell that Giselle was tired. He seen the bags under her eyes, and her slightly sluggish movements. He wanted to ask why she was so tired, but he had a feeling he knew exactly why she was tired. The same thing was wrong with him, and there really wasn't much either of them could do about it. They just had to eventually get use to sleeping alone once again.

Giselle did feel better now that she was back to her routine. She was able to have lunch with Arnie and Gilbert, which excited Arnie more than anything in the world. He was so happy to have her back to eat lunch with him. She and Gilbert were practically his best friends, and he always wanted to be with them. Even though he didn't express it, he really didn't enjoy when they would leave him at home without them.

Gilbert and Giselle mostly brought Arnie to work with them because they knew Momma couldn't handle him. She liked to baby the boy, but she really couldn't do much else. It was disappointing, to say the least, but the twins tried not to be upset over it. Arnie was their little brother, they loved him, and they'd protect him from anything in the world.

Nobody was allowed to hurt Arnie, it just didn't happen. If someone hurt him, well, then they had to deal with Giselle and Gilbert. The twins may look harmless, but when you messed with Arnie, they became some of the scariest people anyone could meet.

Over time, Mason had become protective of Arnie as well. Once, he had seen a group of bullies messing with Arnie, and he went over and scared them away. He threatened to stick a crowbar up their asses if they messed with Arnie again. Needless to say, those three never messed with the young boy again, at least, not when they knew Mason was around.

Mason was a nice guy, and he could be very kind and generous, but he hated bullies. He would confront a bully at any time of day or night if he was given the chance. Not many people in Endora had a bullying problem though, except for when it came to Arnie. Mason didn't know the extent of the bullying, but when he saw it, he handled it right away.

Truth be told, Mason began to see Arnie as a little brother. Mason loved Giselle, he wanted to spend his life with her, and with Giselle came her family. Gilbert was sometimes a hard person to deal with, but Mason could see that the guy meant well. He was just very protective of his sisters and brother. Gilbert was a good man, and Mason could see that.

Giselle loved Mason. She especially loved the fact that he was so kind to Arnie. Not many people were nice to Arnie, but Mason was amazing. He treated Arnie like a regular human being, and that's all Giselle could ever want. She could never love someone who didn't love Arnie, but she had gotten lucky with Mason, and she was never going to lose him...
