The day of the party had come

The day of the party had come. Giselle and Amy worked on all of the extra little things they hadn't gotten done the night before. Gilbert and Amy were outside putting the decorations up, and Mason was working on making food on the grill. He could make some of the best burgers and hotdogs in town.

By the time they had finished setting everything up, they had to go upstairs and get themselves ready for the party. Giselle had luckily picked out her outfit the night before, so it didn't take much work for her to get ready. Doing her hair was a task, but that was because she got tired halfway through and had to take a break. Other than that, she was ready rather quickly.

Once both girls were ready, Amy helped Giselle down the stairs. They then both went outside to start greeting the guests. Giselle stayed near Mason, as she watched everyone enjoy the party. The only reason she stayed near Mason, was because he wouldn't grow irritated with her when she asked him to help her stand up so she could use the restroom every twenty minutes. Well, that and he was with the food, and he'd always feed her if she was hungry. He'd use the excuse of her being pregnant to get them both out of trouble for eating, too.

There were a lot of children present for Arnie's birthday, and they were actually having a lot of fun. Giselle loved seeing the smile on Arnie's face, as well as hearing the laughter that seemed to bubble out of his like lava from a volcano. He was absolutely beyond happy, and Giselle couldn't be happier for him.

When Gilbert looked over and see how happy his sister was, especially as she talked to Mason, he decided it was the perfect time to introduce Momma to Becky. Momma had stayed inside like she had insisted, which was where Gilbert had to bring Becky. Momma wasn't happy about it at all, but Gilbert wanted her to meet the girl that was making him a better person.

Giselle had watched Gilbert bring Becky to the door, and she knew it was going to be a bit of drama. She let Gilbert handle it alone though, knowing he had to go through it similar to how she did. Momma wasn't keen on meeting new people, and after what happened in town, she really didn't want anyone to meet her or see her. She wanted to be left alone, and she wanted to watch her son enjoy his birthday party.

Giselle wasn't too happy that Momma stayed inside, when the party was taking place outside. She understood though, since Momma had went through such a traumatic event only a week ago in town. The town's people had all been so horrible towards her, and she didn't want to embarrass her children during Arnie's party. She wanted the attention to be on the birthday boy, not on herself at all.

After Gilbert had introduced Becky to Momma, the two went back out to enjoy the party. Mason went inside shortly after to bring Momma some food. He knew how the arrangement was going to work before the party, so he made sure he set hers to the side so he could bring them to her. When she seen him, she smiled and took the plate from his hands.

"Mason," Momma called,"can you and I talk for a second?" She asked, and Mason nodded.

Mason sat down on the bed next to Momma like she had asked.

"Do you plan to marry Giselle?" Momma asked, causing Mason's eyes to widen.

"W-where's this coming from?" He asked, making her sigh.

"Just answer me honestly, Mason, please." She replied, and he nodded.

"Yeah, I plan to marry her one day." He answered, making the woman smile.

"Mason, you're a good man. You're the best man I could've ever pictured for my little girl. She's one of the sweetest girls you'll ever meet, and I always wanted what was best for her, and you are. I know you're going to be a great father, and she'll be an amazing mother. I want you to love her forever, and never break her heart. You two are perfect for each other, and I want you both to live happily ever after," She said, sighing quietly to herself,"Now, go back and enjoy the party, before Giselle comes in here looking for you." She commented, sending Mason off moments later.

Mason was confused by the way Momma had talked to him. She had said things to him in a way that sounded almost like a goodbye. She didn't sound like herself, and that worried him a little. He decided to keep it to himself though, at least until after the party had finished. He didn't want to worry anyone, when he could simply be over thinking some things.

Mason sat down in a chair next to Giselle and gave the girl a smile. She looked so happy, and that's all he could ever want. The party was running smoothly, and Arnie was happier than he had ever been. Everything was perfect, and Mason couldn't help but hope it stayed that way, at least for a little while. This is what they all needed. They all needed this moment of happiness and relaxation.

The world could continue spinning later, but for now, everything needed to stay the way it was. Nothing bad needed to happen, and everyone needed to stay happy. Mason and Giselle were sitting together and holding hands. Gilbert and Becky were enjoying the party together. Amy and Ellen were hanging out with people their age, and Arnie was having the time of his life.

As long as everything seemed happy, that's what it would be. Not a care in the world, and a single problem to be seen. Everything would come crashing soon enough, but at least they had this time to enjoy and be content and happy...
