Like it was stated before, things were just going to go back to being bad after the party. Giselle and Amy had been cleaning up, when Momma had gotten up from the couch. They didn't even know she went up stairs until she called for them. When they seen her, she was out of breath at the top of the stairs.
Amy, Ellen, and Giselle helped their mother lay down and get comfortable in the bed. Gilbert and Mason soon followed them up, and they all stayed in the room with Momma for a bit. She talked to them, and told everyone that she was fine and just needed some rest. Giselle had been the last person to leave the room, and Momma had called her over before she could leave.
"You're going to be a wonderful mother, Giselle. Whenever you think about giving up because it gets too hard or too stressful, always remember that I believe in you. I love you, my baby." Momma said, before Giselle got up and went down the stairs with Mason's help.
Giselle went back to helping Amy clean up, except this time they were outside cleaning. It wasn't too big of a mess, but there was a mess. Mason and Gilbert took down most of the hanging decorations. Ellen helped gather all of the things laying on the ground, since she knew that Giselle couldn't bend down to get them.
Now that Giselle was seven months pregnant, she couldn't really do any bending of any sort. Her body just wouldn't let her, but that was okay. Everyone around helped her as much as they could, since they understood that she couldn't do it herself right now. Once she wasn't pregnant anymore, she'd be doing a lot more.
Giselle liked being pregnant, mostly because she could feel her baby inside of her. She loved the baby, and she loved feeling her move and such. She did not like the morning sickness, the swollen ankles, the cramps at random times, the sore boobs, or the lack of sleep and comfortable sleep positions though.
Giselle felt the baby move in her belly, and a smile graced her face. She rubbed her belly lightly, and felt the baby kick where her hand had been rested for a moment. She loved her little girl. The moment she was born, would be the moment Giselle's life finally felt complete.
As everyone was outside cleaning up, Arnie came out of the house freaking out. He wasn't acting normal, and everyone began to worry. At first, Giselle wondered if this was one of the signs that Arnie was actually deteriorating like the doctors had claimed he would. Gilbert was the only one that could get him calm enough to explain what was going on, but again, with Arnie there really wasn't much of a clear explanation.
Everyone had eventually realized that something had happened to Momma from what Arnie had tried to tell them. Mason had to help Giselle up the stairs, but after that, everyone went into Momma's room. Amy was the one to relay the fact that Momma had passed away in that bed. Giselle felt her heart break in her chest, and she didn't know what to do.
They sat for what felt like an hour, trying to figure out how they would get Momma out and have her buried. There wasn't a way for them to safely get her down the stairs. Someone would literally have to come and cut her out of the room, and that wasn't something they wanted to happen.
When Gilbert seen the look on Ellen's face, he knew right then what he had to do. He was not letting his mother be the butt of the joke to the town again, especially in a time like this. She didn't deserve that, and neither did her children.
"C'mon Mason, we need to get a few things." Gilbert said, and Mason followed close behind him.
Ellen and Giselle sat together, holding each other, as tears filled their eyes. Somehow they had kept themselves from crying, so they wouldn't upset Arnie anymore than he already was. He didn't understand what was going on, but he knew something was really wrong.
Some time passed, before Mason and Gilbert came back up stairs. They had the girls pack their things, as well as anything else they wanted, before they were brought outside. Mason and Gilbert then went back inside and covered the house in gas and lighter fluid. Once they were safely outside, Gilbert dropped a match, and the house went up in flames.
The remainder of the family stood outside with their things, watching as their house burned down with their mother's body inside. They were doing what they had to do to protect her and their family. As the house burned, they all sat down in the different furniture outside, and everything was silent. Well, as silent as it could be with a house burning down beside them.
Giselle watched as the house she grew up in and all her memories burned to the ground. Mason held her hand tightly in his, allowing her to squeeze as hard as she needed to. She was upset, but somehow she had still kept her tears at bay. Once the fire trucks began to arrive, that's when the group started to disperse.
Ellen and Amy would be going to stay with one of Amy's friends. Giselle would be going to live with Mason, which is something she would've done eventually, she just didn't expect it to be so soon. Gilbert used Mason's phone to call Becky, and he and Arnie would go to join her once she passed by their town once again.
Until Becky came back, Gilbert and Arnie would stay with Mason and Giselle. The family was splitting up, even though they didn't really want to. Eventually they would all have to go their separate ways, but saying goodbye to one another was really very heartbreaking...
