Jay was walking to the kitchen for a snack. He had pretty much watched, played, and done everything there was to do in his room.
Jay meandered through the halls. He was in daze so he wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings.
Jay bumped into Cole in the hallway. It was midday so it wasn't out of the ordinary for Cole to walking around.
"Sorry," Jay apologized. Cole seemed alarmed. "It's fine," Cole said hastily. Jay squinted. "Heh you sure?" Cole nodded reassuringly. "Bye," Cole said rushing into his room and shutting the door.
"Weird."
Jay finally got to the kitchen where Kai was. "Hey Kai," Jay greeted. Kai just nodded as he was climbing up the cabinets like a spider. "What are you doing?" Jay questioned.
"Getting a snack duh," Kai replied. "I can see that."
Jay grabbed a back of chips and a glass of water. "Well have fun with that," Jay shrugged as Kai continued his search for snacks.
Jay made his way back through the halls. He was going to head back to room when he heard hushed whispers in Coles room. He wasn't going to listen in until he heard his name.
"We can't keep this a secret much longer, you have to do it," Cole said.
Jay didn't have a clue to what they were talking about. "Next time I see him," I promise. Nya said and then their wasn't anymore talking.
Jay waited for the conversation to continue but he couldn't hear anything.
Jay tried pressing his against the door lightly to listen in but he tripped and the door opened. Jay fell to the floor but not before catching a glimpse of his best friend and girlfriend kissing.
Jay couldn't believe what he had just seen.
Jay tried to muster up the courage to speak, move, do anything but he was still, paralyzed. "Jay," Nya said surprised and a little annoyed. "Why didn't you knock?" Nya asked. "What?" Jay finally said.
Cole helped Jay up but Jay shoved him off. "Don't touch me," Jay said shakily. "We were going to tell you," Cole offered. It bared no effect towards Jay.
"I'm sorry," Cole said with a hint of annoyance hidden behind false sympathy. "Spare me your bull shit apologies!" Jay cried. "Jay I," Cole began but Nya stopped him. "Jay we were never going to work out. This relationship was awful. Not for you but for me. I still care about you but I love Cole," Nya said with no regret.
Jay couldn't believe his ears. "And you love her?" Jay whispered. Cole nodded. Tears swelled in his eyes. "I guess the history book on the shelf alway repeats itself," Jay chuckled through silent tears.
"Oh Jay, there was no repeat. I always chose Cole. It's just I couldn't be with him then. I'm sorry I hurt you," Nya sighed. "Remember what I said? We're friends and that's all we're ever going to be..."
Jay woke up abruptly. His chest felt like it was going to combust. Hot tears flowed down his cheeks as he breathed rapidly trying to get air into his lungs.
He did his best to keep quiet as to not wake up his Yang sleeping peacefully beside him. Jay breathed a sigh of relief seeing her next to him but he couldn't calm down. He slid his body silently out of bed.
Jay tried wiping the tears from his eyes but they wouldn't stop.
"Why are you crying it's just a dream," Jay tried reasoning with himself. Jay walked out on to the court yard and climbed onto the roof to watch the sunrise.
"I'm just being stupid," Jay told himself. He didn't believe it. It was still dark out so the stars could be seen in the sky but they were slowly vanishing.
Jay laughed to himself. "It was fun while it lasted?"
Jay was startled by the noise of foot steps. "Jay?" He heard his name called out. He was too groggy to recognize the voice. He debated on revealing himself but the voice kept calling him so he did.
Jay poked his head down from the awning.
"What are you doing up there?" Nya asked. Jay sighed. "Watching the sunset," Jay said.
Nya climbed up to join him. She brought a fluffy blanket since it was the middle of winter and freezing.
"Aren't you cold?" Nya asked. Jay shook his head. Nya bumped her shoulder onto Jays. "You okay?" She asked with concern. "Bad dream," Jay said not removing his eyes from the sky.
"That bad?" Nya asked. "What was it about?"
Jay didn't respond. How could he tell her? He didn't want to open up any old wounds. Their past was decided to be forever in the past. It wouldn't be fair to drag her into his silly insecurities.
"Jay, you can't keep your emotions to yourself," Nya said. "What emotions?" Jay played dumb. "You know like sadness? The emotion to make you cry," she said gesturing to him.
"I wasn't crying," Jay lied. Nya pressed her finger tips to Jays cheek to face her.
"Tell me, please?" Some part of Jay wanted to tell her but the other thought she would laugh.
"It's so stupid you'd probably get mad," Jay whispered. "Jay, you're not Zane. Your dreams don't predict a future."
On some end that was comforting. "I guess you're right," Jay sighed.
Jay explained his dream in great detail to his surprise he remembered the dream word for word.
Nya had to think. There were so many responses she could give but this being the situation it was she wanted to be delicate. However, each response had the same reasoning behind it: she loved him and only him, with all of her heart.
Nya finally constructed a good response.
"I get that dreams are really realistic. I should know," Nya chuckled. After Nadakhan she had some pretty horrible dreams but Jay was there to comfort her.
"But that dream is nothing close to our reality. The only thing that was accurate was Kai's spider crawling through the cabinets."
"You are the person who saved Ninjago from Nadakhan and Unagami by your love; your love for me," Nya smiled. "How could I not love you?"
Nya took Jays hands in hers. "Jay Walker I promise my heart is forever and always yours," Nya squeezed his hands tightly in hers.
Jay took Nya in his arms. Nya gladly reciprocated the hug.
Nya wrapped the blanket around Jay and her as she cuddled into his arms. The couple watched the sun come up together.
