Nya wept over her boyfriend's body.
"Why the hell did he do this?!" Kai banged his hand on a locker ignoring the throbbing pain now that lived in his fist.
"Zane there has to be some cure? Why would Mr.Nadakhan want Jay dead?"
"He said he would die without him that doesn't sound like he wanted him dead," Lloyd added.
"He jumped in front of me! Saving me!"
The ninja looked at her sympathetically.
"Nya it wasn't your f-"
"No! When he jumped Nadakhan was upset."
They were confused now.
"Why would he be so upset? Wasn't Jay the target in the first place?"
Zane put his fist to his chin.
"His reaction is rather unusual," he validated her.
"Nya, Cole, call his parents. It's better they hear it from you then a police officer, Kai you're coming with me, we're following the police to the station for questioning,"
"I can't leave I need to stay here with Nya and for Jay!"
"No, we need to get answers. If it's true what Zane says he needs to stay here, Wu is going to take him back to the warehouse."
The ninja weren't too sure about this plan but they didn't feel they were in the position to argue at the moment.
Lloyd and Kai followed an officer to the station.
Wu shortly arrived after Lloyd and Kai left.
He rushed to his students side.
"Oh my student, I have failed you," he hung his head down in shame.
"It's not over yet, Lloyd and Kai are going to get answers and fix this!" Cole said with a course inflection.
Wu nodded solemnly.
"Zane informed me of the situation, so let's get him to the warehouse. Have you notified his parents?"
Nya and Cole shook their heads.
"We figured it'd be um better to tell them in person," Nya said wiping her tear stained eyes with her slightly torn sleeve.
"I think that would be for the best."
The pair was about to leave when Wu stopped them. "Remember ninja...ninja never quit. As much as we're fighting now, know that Jay is fighting just as hard to get back to us. He won't give up on us, the least we can do is the same."
He placed a reassuring hand on Cole's shoulder.
"We won't let you down Master Wu," Nya and Cole said as they looked at Jay's almost lifeless form.
"I'm not giving up on you again Jay, never again." Cole said squeezing Jay's cold hand.
Cole sighed holding back tears. Jay's hands were always warm. He used his element so much his hands were never cold.
He walked away waiting in the hallway for Nya.
Nya looked down at her boyfriend's- ex-boyfriend's body. The red and blue lights from the remaining police cares lit up on him.
She knelt down and kissed him on his forehead. "Come back to me, this time I won't let you go, just come back."
A single tear trickled down her cheek.
She wiped her red eyes and ran to Cole as Wu and Zane lifted Jay gently to move him to the warehouse.
...
Nya and Cole stood outside the camper of the junk yard. "I don't know if I can do this," Nya said, her heart beat racing.
"Me neither but we have to."
"How do we tell them that their son might die?"
Cole couldn't answer this one.
"Come on, let's just get this over with."
Nya nodded. She took a few steps and knocked on the door.
She could hear foot steps and Jay's parents talking.
"Oh Ed dear go get the door! It could be Jay."
Nya felt a pit in her throat hearing the relief in the soon to be devastated mother's voice.
Ed opened the door.
"Nya? Cole? What are you doing here? Have you found Jay?"
The two looked at the other hesitantly.
"Yes we have, he's at the warehouse."
"So he's been disobeying us?"
This made Nya angry but she kept it to herself.
"No, he's been held captive for the past two months, he saved us today, he-he was infected with poison. He might not make it." She had planned to put it a lot more lightly but it was too late now.
Ed held tightly to the door frame desperately calling out for his wife.
"EDNA!"
Edna was smiling until she saw her husband. "What? What's wrong?" She felt the worry rise in her.
"Jay's been watched over, Zane is researching the poison. Kai and Lloyd are interrogating Mr.Nadakhan."
Edna and Ed felt sick.
"Mr. Nadakhan did this?"
"Yes..."
"He was supposed to watch Jay keep him out of trouble... not in it. He-he tried telling us. We-we didn't listen," Ed felt the shame rise in him.
"We-we put him in danger?" Edna stuttered.
"No- no of course-"
"Don't lie to them Cole! This is their fault! Just as much as ours. We ignored him but it was because of them he ignored us. He listened to you and look where it got him!"
Edna began to sob as she fell into her husband's arms.
"Nya!" Cole cried. If he was being honest he would have done the same thing but he just couldn't or else he'd fall apart. He just didn't think Nya had the balls to confront them like that. She always adored the Walkers.
Nya was going to dig deeper on them when her wrist watch lit up. She flipped the cover and looked at the screen which had Zane's face.
"How is he?"
Zane shook his head.
"Not great, he's having the typical symptoms, about thirty minutes ago he developed a fever. At first it wasn't high it was 100 but it's risen to 103. I fear if we don't get answers soon the fever will get to him before anything else.
Nya shuddered.
"Thanks Zane, Jay's parents will be there soon."
Nya flipped off her camera.
"Cole, take the Walkers to the warehouse. I'm going to join Kai and Lloyd.
Cole didn't feel in the mood to protest the emotionally drained water ninja.
"I'll catch up if you need anything just get some answers ok?"
Nya gave him a knowing smile, albeit weak from her lack of sleep and from crying as much as she had.
The two ninja had come on with their own vehicles.
Cole helped the Walker's into his ninja car as Nya hopped onto her bike.

~Jay ,Wake up~
Jay shot his eyes open. A woman was standing above him and he recognized her, at least she felt familiar.
"Where-where am I?"
"You're in the Ichiji Teishi Realm. It's in between the living and the departed realm."
Jay shot up.
"Why am I here? What happened? Why are you here?"
The woman smiled kindly at him and offered her hand.
"You were poisoned," she urged for Jay to take her hand.
He was hesitant but he eventually took it as she helped him to his feet.
"Were you...poisoned too?" He asked cautiously.
She shook her head.
"The Ichiji Teishi Realm is for those who await their fate, or those who wait until a soul needs direction."
Jay cocked his brow.
"Is that why you're here?"
She nodded.
"So, you're...dead? How'd you know I was poisoned?"
She smiled softly, nodding. "I am dead,  and how I know you were poisoned? Your scar... it's the scar of tiger widow venom. I was a doctor in my life trying to find a cure. Sadly in my time I never found one."
"Does that mean...?"
"Not yet."
Jay looked down at his feet.
"So that's what you meant by a soul who waits for their fate?"
"Yes," she said bordering on a gentle whisper.
"Do you know who poisoned me?"
"No."
"Why can't I either?"
"I can help you remember, but the memories can be painful. And as you remember the memories you have of your life will be shared with me but only the last minutes."
Jay took a moment to process this. He vaguely remembered his life but it was all a haze. He wondered if he really wanted to remember.
If he was poisoned was it really a life worth returning to?
He took a deep breath.
"I'd rather know my past now then question who I was for eternity on the other side."
She smiled.
"As you wish."
...
Nya got off of her bike. She ran through the station halls once the receptionist told her which room her teammates were in.
She turned the knob to the door with a shaking fist.
The door creaked open as she entered closing it behind her.
"Anything?"
The boys shook their heads.
Nya looked at Nadakhan trying to meet his gaze but he wouldn't allow it.
She observed his unusually depressed appearance.
"You're going to get a lot sadder in jail if you don't start talking. Do you feel any remorse?"
Nadakhan looked up angrily.
"I was protecting him from you! You were meant to die! Not him!"
Nya pulled Lloyd and her brother back.
"He thinks Jay is dead?" The two nodded.
"Why?"
"Lloyd figured it would make him talk."
Nya sighed.
"In this case I think if we told him the truth would get us more answers."
Lloyd wasn't too sure about this but his plan wasn't working.
"If you were really trying to save him, you still have a chance he's alive."
Nadakhan shot up.
"He's alive?"
"Barely," Kai said bitterly.
"We need a cure."
"Let me go and you'll get it."
"Not a chance," Kai scoffed.
"I am the only one who can give it."
Nya glared at the criminal. She once again pulled Lloyd and Kai back.
"Isn't that convenient?" The fire ninja grimaced.
"What choice do we have?" Nya crossed her arms.
"No, Nya you can't seriously be considering this?"
"Jay is counting on us Lloyd!"
"Nya's right, we'll bring vengestone too."
"And render ourselves powerless too?"
"What other choice do we have?"
Lloyd sighed.
"Fine."
"You're coming with us."
...
Ed and Edna along with Wu and the remaining ninja paced back and forth as they awaited their friend's arrival.
Kai and Lloyd walked in with guilty faces.
"Why do you look like you did something bad?" Cole asked wearily.
"I suggest taking the walkers away, I don't think they should be here right now."
"Why not?"
"Seriously get them out of here," Nya warned. Cole nodded. He could hear the urgency in her voice.
"Mr. And Mrs. Walker we need you to step out for a minute," Cole explained.
"Why?"
"No we're not leaving our son, not again!" Edna declared.
"He's not your son he's mine!"
