"Wait, so you heard it from all the way back here?", I ask.
It was 3 a.m. and I sat out in the hanger with Echo as he finished up cutting up metal plates for the ship he was repairing. He sets the blow torch down after a few seconds and flips his helmet up.
"I did", he answers. He picked the panel up and hauled it to the side of the ship."There was a lot going on at the time, but once we all heard it-they started retreating."
He begins drilling holes through the panel to patch it back on. I cross my arms over my chest in thought. When he holds his hand out, I place a screw into it, my eyes still glued to the floor.
"Echo, what if I'm the bad guy in all of this?", I asked.
"What makes you say that?", he says, driving another screw in.
"When I keep thinking about everything going on lately, I want to get back at them. I think of revenge. And when I screamed tonight, I embraced the pure rage I felt towards them", I answered.
"So what? Everyone gets angry sometimes", he shrugs.
"Not me. I'm not supposed to. I'm a Jedi, Echo", I look up to him."I'm supposed to be better than this."
He sighs down at me,"They had your Mother and people you cared for, Nova. I would've done the same thing. That does'nt make you a bad person. Besides, you've been under a lot of street lately, too."
I stop chewing my nail and exhale sharply. "You remember the stories we've heard since Pre-K? About the two witnesses that will resurface the-"
"Resurface the rings of power and immortality and either bring about the end of time or save it? Yeah, I'm familiar", he nods. Another screw is driven in."What about it?"
"One of them is said to be pure, saintly. The voice of reason. And the other comes with malicious intent. Hostile, venomous, evil intent. The dark and the light. But they're supposed to come together to save what they love. And together they bring balance...", I explain as I pace.
"Know anyone who fits the bill yet?", he says over his shoulder.
"No", I sigh, rolling my eyes.
"What about General Skywalker?"
"I am not afraid to knock you off that stool. Don't ever say that again", I point to him. He smirks and shakes his head."He's a nightmare."
"Ok, so let's entertain the thought, hm? What if it is him?-"
"It's not", I shake my head.
"He is the Chosen One."
"So I've heard", I roll my eyes. He drills in another screw then holds his hand out, wiggling his fingers. I reached over and grabbed another screw to hand him.
"Is'nt he the one who is supposed to 'bring balance' to begin with?", he asks.
"Well he can do that all on his own, meanwhile I'm looking for a witness", I say.
"Any idea on who else it could be? Have you gathered anything from your nightmares yet?", he asked.
"Not enough to go off on, no", I shake my head."I'm going to go see if I can find anything else in the books. Are you gunna be alright here?"
"Yeah, just a couple more to go anyway", he nods, jumping down from the ladder and wiping his hands.
"See you tomorrow", I say.
"See ya", he nods as we bump fists and I turn to walk away." Hey, Nova?"
I turn back and give a nod. He bounces and down on his heels nervously. "Could you, maybe-"
