Miles was swaying his body back and forth as he waited on the playground near his apartment. He could hear the faint laughter of kids ringing in his ear as he impatiently tapped his foot on the ground.
It still felt surreal.
'Wow.' He never thought Soren Chandler had a problem like that when he was young.
He really did not understand the concept of trauma and its relation with mental development but he did hear a lot of things about it including how trauma at a young age can affect a person's growth and overall well-being.
But thinking about it, Soren Chandler right now seems pretty normal. Maybe, after becoming the heir of the Cavallero's, Soren was able to recuperate and heal with the help of therapy and his newfound family.
Miles definitely knew 'pretty normal' was the right word for Soren or anyone else involved in this drama that is currently going on in the organization.
Even the gorgeous, male Snow White with an intimidating sleeve tattoo, Mikhail, wasn't normal to begin with. Based on Soren's narrative on the third interview, indeed, no twelve-year-old should be able to do what's appropriate inside a car that has a bomb ticking waiting for the slightest change of weight to happen.
Even Miles was intrigued by the narrative.
He was wondering how Mikhail was able to do such thing at a very young age. If his parents were protecting him, Miles thought that they were trying to distance him as much as possible from the organization or anything related to it but it seems like they were letting Mikhail do what he wanted as well aside from being the heir of the organization.
In reality, Miles really wanted to meet Mikhail again. Again, just like what Soren had said, there is something about Mikhail that always drew people close to him no matter the demographics.
Of course, he wasn't blind. He had his suspicions when they first met each other.
Soren always had an aura of confidence around him. It's as if he was naturally confident that he doesn't need to be trained. His presence was astounding and loud as anyone in a room placed with him will not fail to look in his direction even if it was against their judgment and will. Soren was just like that.
However, he folded that time when Mikhail came into the picture.
He was like a deer caught in headlights. His eyes were wide and there was a clear expression of surprise and anxiety in his face.
Soren Chandler was nervous around Mikhail Cavallero.
It was understandable from Miles' perspective. That's if he was placed in Soren Chandler's shoes but truthfully, Miles thought that Soren doesn't really have to be that nervous around someone in his own league.
Both look incredibly good, both are insanely rich, and both are standing in the same line that drew everyone else separate from their own world of power.
'Which means there must be something about Mikhail Cavallero that makes him nervous pushing aside their statuses,' Miles thought as he saw a black car making its way towards him.
As he watched the black vehicle, his thoughts were still wandering around Soren Chandler's life. Now everything was slowly making sense. Even when he was still young in the narrative, it gave a clear picture as to why Soren Chandler is like Soren Chandler right now.
And as the black car stopped in front of him, Miles took a deep breath when the doors opened and men in black greeted his gaze. They look scary.
Maybe this was his life now.
