As part of the football film crew, it's your job to know which players to focus on to display on the Jumbotron for the crowd to see. It's the South Park Cows first game of the season and the pressure's on.
You were never really that invested in the sport until you saw the Cows star quarterback, Clyde Donovan play. He had broad shoulders and muscular arms with a smile that could make anyone swoon. He was your dream guy materialized here on earth.
You sigh, there was no way he even knew you existed behind the scenes.
You mess with the controls, getting a wide shot of the people in the stands waving to the camera, ecstatic over their ten seconds of fame and the players enter the field. You try not to make it too obvious that you're craning your neck to get a closer look at Clyde. You knew he was waving to the crowd in general but him being turned ever so slightly in your direction made your heart flutter.
Clyde
Okay Clyde, get your head in the game dude.
Last season they had won on a technicality and he wanted to show the fans just how much the team had improved.
Tolkien ran an impressive offensive play and it was odd that most of the crowd wasn't reacting as loudly as they normally would.
That's weird, they should be able to see it on the Jumbotron.
...
Shit!
You were so lost in Clyde's previous offensive run that you forgot to take the camera off him during Tolkien's play. You had completely missed it!
You did your best to focus the camera onto the rest of the game but you slip up a few more times, spending a little too much extra time on Clyde. You would get chewed out for it later but for now, you couldn't wait to rewatch the footage.
Clyde
"Okay men," Coach Marsh points to a TV screen in the lockers.
"I'm going to replay some highlight events from last night so you can fine-tune them and see what plays went wrong."
As the footage goes on, he gets more frustrated, "What was that camera girl on? Gall! She missed the entire play! I guess I'll just have to demonstrate it."
Coach Marsh rambled on and Tolkien leaned over to whisper to Clyde.
"Have you noticed that every time the camera girl missed a play the camera was on you?"
"And?"
"Dude, she likes you. Not to brag or anything but it would have to take a lot to miss my moves out there."
"What, the camera girl? C'mon, get serious."
Tolkien shrugged, "Why don't you ask her yourself."
"Seriously dude? We're in the middle of practice?"
"Well, you'll never find out if you don't ask. Besides, Coach is just going to go on another tangent about the dangers of Butter's Creamy Goo for a few hours so you've got time."
...
Clyde knocked on the tech room door already feeling a little embarrassed. Up until now, he assumed she must have some sort of attraction to him and it hadn't occurred to him that she might not. His ego had been too strong and he almost abandoned the plan when she opened the door.
Clyde stood in awe. He didn't expect the tech girl to look like that. She was hot. Really hot.
Why the fuck is she working back here? She should be with the cheerleaders.
