[As always- all characters are aged up and for the sake of clarity, I will be assigning names to them]
The wind whipped around in all directions from the open mouth of the military transport aircraft. Your hands rest on the straps of the four-point harness holding you in place. The sound of the propellers and altitude were deafening.
"Squadron Rogue Wolf, do you copy?" your headset came to life with the commanding voice of your lieutenant, Trevor.
He looked over to you and the others, his disheveled brown hair whipping in the wind.
You were the only girl in a squadron of five paratroopers but you wouldn't have it any other way. Throughout the years, they had become your most trusted friends. You had saved each other from death countless times and no one else besides them knew the tingles you get all over before a deployment like this one.
You take a deep breath, "Copy."
"Bro, I hate it when you yell like that over the headset, just use the hand signals!" Travis ran his palm over his buzzcut before securing his helmet.
"Yeah man, we didn't take those classes for our health," Tyler rolled his eyes and the wind swept his long dark hair over one of his eyes.
Tatum kept his composure quietly and raised his hand in the signal for 'Copy'. Whoever said blondes have more fun has never met Tatum. He rarely spoke, opting to use his actions to speak for him.
Trevor laughed heartily over the headset, "See, I would but you knuckleheads never pay attention to me long enough to use it! Y/N's the only competent one out of you!" He teased, making you beam proudly.
Travis elbows your bulletproof vest playfully, "Kiss ass much?"
Tyler's laugh echoes through the headset before he too gets elbowed in the chest, this time by Trevor.
"You two leave my good girl alone."
Tatum makes eye contact with Trevor and taps his watch reminding him to start the countdown to deployment.
"Right, everyone, the clearing in the Jungle below means we will have to make a HALO jump, so pay attention and I'll let you know when to pull your parachute chord."
Trevor turns to you, his stubble from a few missed days of shaving making him look ruggedly handsome, "Y/N, I know you're used to HAHO jumps where you pull the chord early and coast to the ground but we're gonna have to pop your cherry on that today. You'll be jumping with me."
You nod and unbuckle your harness and line up with the others at the opening of the aircraft.
"See ya suckers!" Tyler says jumping first.
"Whoooo!!!!" Travis hollers after him.
Tatum places two fingers to his forehead in salute before his jump leaving you and Trevor last.
He finishes strapping you to his chest, "Ready princess?"
You nod and he counts down to three and jumps.
As you free fall through the clouds, Trevor puts his hands on your hips to remind you to relax. When you see the other boys below, you breathe a little steadier, feeling better knowing where they are.
The ground seemed like it was approaching faster and faster building anxiety up, but you trusted your lieutenant, he had been doing HALO jumps long before you joined the force.
"Deploy at 3,000 feet," He said over the headset to the others.
The parachute behind him burst open slowing your rapid descent to a comfortable degree. You couldn't hear it but you were sure he was chuckling at the startled noise you made.
