Chapter twenty-three

Alyssa Pov

I pull into Eddie driveway after going to the store to get ingredients for dinner. I unlock the door with the key Eddie gave me so I never have to knock

"Alyssa" Christopher says as he sees me enter the house

"Hey buddy" I say with packages in my hands

"Where you dad" I asks him

"Taking a shower" Chris says and I nod

"Do you wanna help me put groceries away and starts getting stuff together for dinner" I ask him, I also bought them some groceries because Eddie told me that he needed to go grocery shopping really soon

"Yeah" Chris says, he loves helping me with making dinner or doing any cooking in the kitchen. We make our way to the kitchen and I start putting the bags on the table so we can empty them

"What did you buy" he asks me

"Well I bought different type of pasta, I got some yogurt, milk, cereal, some fruit, I also bought some snacks so you can bring them to school and some other things for dinner" I say and I see him smile at the word pasta! He loves my pasta dishes, I make a lot of dinners that have pasta in them.

"Ok i'm gonna let you pick what pasta dish we're gonna have for dinner! I can make mac & cheese with a vegetable as a side, I can make pasta with chicken and any type of sauce, or I can make a pasta salad and then some vegetables on the side" I say and he thinks for a couple of seconds

"Mac & cheese please, it's my favorite" he says and I nod

"Ok, so let's get started. Can you pick out a pasta that I should do while I'll get the pot of water and put it on the stove and then after we can start doing the cheese sauce since the pasta doesn't take that long to cook. But you also have to pick out a vegetable that will have as a side, I bought a couple and they're in that bag right there" I say and he nods, he picks out what type of pasta we should cook while I take the pot filled up with water and put it on the stove so it can boil before we add the pasta in. After he picks the pasta he picks a vegetable out of the bag. He picks green beans as a side

"Good Choice Bud" I say and he smiles

"Christopher, time to shower bud" we here Eddy yell from the bathroom

"Can I do it after? I'm helping Alyssa cook" Christopher says and Eddie comes from Christophers room with clothes in his hand

"When did you get her" Eddie says and I giggle

"While you were in the shower Mr! Christopher how about you go shower, by the time you're done dinner will probably be about ready" I say and Christopher looks at me sad

"Come on bud, for this dinner there's not much you can do to help. Maybe tomorrow I'll come over again and I'll make some thing that you can help me with" I say and he nods

"Ok" Christopher says and starts making his way to the bathroom

"We we'll be back soon" Eddie says about to follow his son to the bathroom

"Ok, also for dinner it's mac & cheese and green beans. Your son picked it! I also went food shopping and got you some groceries so you don't have to worry about going" I say and he smiles

"Thank you, but you must give me the receipt and I will pay you for everything you bought" he says and I nod no

"You loving me is your way of thanking me" I say and he giggles as he goes to the bathroom to help his son

Once the water is bubbling, I add the pasta in and while it's cooking I make the cheese sauce which doesn't take me that long. I add in the ingredients into a sauce pan for the cheese sauce. Once both are done by drain the water from the pot and then add the sauce into the pot of pasta. Mix that up and then afterwards I heat up the green beans. Once everything is done and ready to be put on the table, I quickly set the table for the three of us. Right as I'm finished setting the table and putting everything on it I see Eddie and Christopher making their way to the table
