I sigh and walk back over to him and tell him that we need to report to his uncle, he nods saying nothing, stands up and tidies himself he looks at me waiting for me to do the same.

Once we are presentable we make our way to kneel before Lan Qiren. He is livid, face all red and chest heaving.

He begins scolding Lan Wangji when I interrupt "It's not his fault, I made him, I put a talisman on him and made him."

Lan Qiren looks at me with irritation "Three hundred strikes from the paddle for Xie Wuxian and Wangji, the others get fifty each, begin"

We kneel and receive the allotted amount of strikes, Lan Wangji immediately stands up, if a bit slowly, and leaves. 

Cheng has to help me to my feet, this is the first time I've ever received this type of punishment.

My parents have never raised a hand to me and the only strikes I've ever received have been during sparring. 

I hobble off with the help of Cheng and the moral support of Nie Gongzi, we are trying to make our way back to our rooms when we run into Lan Xichen. 

He tells me about the cold springs so I leave my friends and head that way. 

Anything to make this pain go away. 

I walk down several steps until I see the cold spring, I smile, I see a bathing beauty and my heart races as I near him. 

His body is just as beautiful as his face, I catch my breath at the sight of him, I walk over to the side of the pool and remove my shoes, he sees me and quickly moves to don his inner robes. 

I chuckle "Lan Zhan, we meet again."

He replies sternly "How did you get in here?"

I smile and step into the water which is very cold "Lan Xichen told me I could come here to heal." I say walking closer to him.

He steps away from me and I pout "Don't be like that second master Lan, I want us to be friends, there are a lot of benefits to being my friend."

He looks at me "Like what?"

I smile wider "We can go to Lotus Pier and eat lotus pod seeds, we can swim, I can take you to see my home on the other continent, it will be fun, and you will enjoy it."

He raises an eyebrow Wow a real reaction I'm shocked "You are from the other continent?"

I chuckle "Yes, I have visited Yunmeng every summer since I was five but my home is on the other continent. I have lived there my whole life. You should visit there with me, you'll like it."

He becomes stoic again "No need."

I curl my lip up irritated "Fine but we should still be friends, like I said we've been through life and death together. It's an unbreakable bond between us."

I feel another ripple of energy but it seems to be coming from behind us "Lan Zhan do you feel that?"

I'm pulled under the water and dragged downward as soon as those words leave my mouth. 

I roll down the entrance to what turns out to be a cave, I see Lan Zhan rolling down right behind me and we help each other stand. 

There is about two feet of water in the cave and icicles are heavily covering the eves and ceiling of the cave. 

There is a large rock on a dais with a guqin sitting on it with several rabbits with Lan sect headbands nearby. 

We walk closer and Lan Zhan keeps walking but there is a note that comes from the guqin which produces an energy wave strong enough to knock me off my feet.

I sputter standing back up soaking wet again and look at him "What was that?" I ask as another energy wave knocks me back down yet still not affecting him.

He says "Cord assassination technique"

I try to stand up but another wave comes and I duck just before getting hit again putting Suibian in front of my face for protection. 

Nothing happens when I look up, Bichen is stuck in the ground before me blocking the wave of energy. 

Then LanZhan is standing beside me I look at him and he looks down at my wrist. 

I feel a tightening which pulls my eyes to the cause, he has used his forehead ribbon and wrapped it around my wrist he then takes the other end and wraps it around his own wrist and pulls ensuring it won't come loose. 

The energy waves stop as soon as we are bound, I blush profusely because where I come from this is a wedding ritual tying a couple together in marriage. 

This is how my Baba and A-Die were married. Does this mean we are? I need to ask my A-Die. 

We walk over to the dais and he looks at the guqin with reverence, He steps around, sits in front of it and begins to play it, he seems to go into some sort of trance. 

I see an opportunity so I pull out one of my A-Die's butterflies and speak to it, after I finish speaking I send it off back to my A-Die. 

I wait for Lan Zhan to come back to himself, he looks at me "This belonged to our first female sect leader Lan Yi."

As he speaks her name a version of her begins to appear near the rabbits and becomes more substantial as she gets closer to us. "Greeting Second Master Lan." She smiles at her descendent.

He bows bringing me along to bow as well "Greetings Sect Leader Lan Yi."

She explains the reason for pulling us into the cave and about the Yin Iron and its history with the Wen clan.

She gives us the fragment that she has "You must find the others and bring them back here so that the cold cave can suppress the energy."

Lan Zhan kneels again bringing me with him he bows causing me to bow as well "I will do as you say."

I speak up "I will too." 

Lan Zhan looks at me "This is a family issue and no concern of yours."

I huff irritated "It is my business my grandmother is Baoshan Sanren the Martial Goddess of Magic and my father is the Supreme Ghost King."

Lan Yi gasps "Baoshan? She was my best friend, she had a daughter, I never knew her child had a child."

"My birth is complicated Lady Lan, I am the product of Cangse Sanren, Wei Changze, Crimson Rain Sought Flower and Flower Crown Martial God The Crown Prince of Xianle."

I sneak a peek at Lan Zhan who is looking at me unblinking and yet still emotionless. 

I smile bashfully "There was an incident in the heavenly realm and my mother was cast down but my grandmother took me from her womb before she descended." 

"She and my father were both killed a few days after she came to the mortal realm, my grandmother put me in a daruma doll and cast an incantation to add the genetic material of both of my fathers." 

"I have the genetic material of all four parents, then I was absorbed into the body of the crown prince, he carried me and gave birth to me."

"Greetings Heavenly Ghost Prince of the Realms." She bows her head to me.

I blush "Greetings Sect Leader Lan Yi." I bow.

She smiles kindly "I haven't seen Baoshan Sanren for more than a hundred years. It is wonderful to be able to meet her grandson. I accept your offer to help my descendent." 

"The Yin Iron piece you have now will help you to find the others. They call to each other, and there is already someone within the Cloud Recesses testing the boundary looking for it so be careful and keep it safe."

We nod and stand, as we back away she begins to fade into nothing, as I watch I see her energy dissipate. 

I look over at the bunnies "Lan Zhan we need to save them, they were her companions and she is no longer here. Without her energy to sustain them, they will die."

He looks at me nods and hums "Mn"

I smile at him "Thank you, Lan Zhan, we better find a way out of here, we will come back and get them."
