Lan Ying's POV

A few hours later I heard a soft whiny cry "Baaabaaa"

I get up and go into A-Yuan's room and see him sitting up on the cushion rubbing his eyes and pouting. He looks up and sees me and puts his arms up for me to pick him up.

I bend down and pick him up and he lays his head on my shoulder "Baba" he says and snuggles his head closer to my neck.

I hug him closer and take him into the other room "Shijie do you mind making some congee for the kids? I'm sure this little one is hungry. I'll get him some ginger mint tea until he can eat."

She walks over and pats the baby on the back softly then plays with his hair for a minute before smiling and nodding "Yes, I'll put the water on for the tea."

A-Yuan curls into me and slightly away from Yanli and doesn't do anything to outright reject her. "Thank you Shijie."

I try to look at the baby in my arms and I whisper to him "That's your Auntie Yanli, baby, she is family."

He doesn't say anything instead he watches her moving around the kitchen his head still on my shoulder. I sit down with him and rock him murmuring to him until he sits up and looks around on his own.

I smile when he looks at me, he grabs my hair and gently plays with it "Baba?"

I hum "Hmm?"

He smiles and smells my hair then leans into my chest "My Baba?"

I grin "Yes baby I'm your Baba, in a little bit you will meet your didi and meimei."

He sits up his little face scrunches in confusion "A-Yuan has meimei and didi?"

I nod and smile "Yes you have a little didi and a little meimei of your own, you are their gege."

His eyes widen "A-Yuan is gege?"

I laugh at his surprised expression and nod "A-Yuan will be a great gege to his didi and meimei."

He smiles and looks around and sees Ling asleep and points "A-Yuan's didi?"

I shake my head "No that is your cousin Baby Ling"

He tilts his head "Baby Ling is not didi?"

I smile "No, he is Shidi to A-Yuan"

He smiles "Shidi, where A-Yuan's didi and meimei?"

I grin "They are sleeping, they needed a nap, and they will be up soon. Do you want to come with me to check and see if they are awake after we eat?"

He nods, I pick him up and walk over to the water, grab a pot and the tea leaves and take him over to the table. I pour the water, stir in the leaves and blow on it so it cools down enough for him to drink it. I put it to his lips and he leans in and takes a sip, he sighs after taking a few sips and Yanli brings over a bowl of congee for him. He looks at it curiously for a second and I take a spoonful, blow on it and feed it to him. He is hesitant for just a second then takes a bite.

He smiles up at me after taking a bite and leans in for another, he eats the whole bowl and I ask her to get another small amount so that I know he has had enough to eat. I don't know when he ate last and I'm sure he was probably starving.

He eats the second portion and I wipe his mouth and kiss the top of his head. He turns to me "Go see meimei and didi?"

I nod smiling and let him walk, I take his hand and we go into the babies room. He sees the twins and he puts his little hands on his chest, he looks up at me and grins then points to them "Baby, my baby"
