Chapter 51

Lan Ying's POV

For the next few months, Lan Zhan and I attended a few council meetings, started learning from the heavenly official's the job titles and roles they play in the governing of the heavenly realm and started learning how to use our god powers daily. We make love every night and I am saddened every time I see the scars that now crisscross his back. Baba said it was one of the items Jun Wu gave my half-sister Wen Xu Chi that was used on him and that's why it left scars.

He doesn't seem to mind them but I hate seeing his incredible body marred all because of some bitch with a vendetta against me. His body is perfect and I find him beautiful no matter what but knowing why he got the scars makes me sad and angry.

Nana had to use the cuff after trying several times to access Wen Xu Chi's memories, she still couldn't access everything but she did see that Jun Wu and Wen Xu Chi had a male child about thirty years ago. They talked about their family taking over the heavens, destroying most of the current gods and replacing them with gods that would be completely loyal to them. 

She was able to see the child as he grew but wasn't able to see him past his seventh or eighth year so we don't know what he looks like now. She saw some of the objects that had been taken from the heavenly vault and with the inventory Baba ordered has figured out the items that were missing.

We have a council meeting today but I want to talk to Baba and A-Die beforehand so Lan Zhan and I arrive early. We walk into the council room and find them sitting there waiting for the others to show.

"Baba, A-Die, I'm glad you two are alone, I keep meaning to you ask something but with everything that's been going on it just keeps slipping my mind."

They look at me and Lan Zhan "What's on your mind son?" Baba asks.

"I was wondering what happened to the Dafan Mountain Wen's, no one has mentioned them and I wanted to make sure that they were safe." I look between my fathers hoping for good news.

Baba smiles "Remember the Chang Sect that was nearly wiped out by Xue Yang?"

I nod "Yes, other than the sect leader and a few of the family members who weren't there at the time, the rest were wiped out by him."

Baba smiles "Well Sect Leader Chang decided to take them, since his sect was decimated, he agreed to incorporate them into his sect, he has been building his disciples back up since Xue Yang's rampage, but it's been slow going with everything that's been going on. For their safety, they have all been adopted into the Chang family and their last names have been changed. Because they are mostly healers and herbalists the Chang family has decided to become the healers of the clans. The Dafan Wens are teaching the Chang family members their healing techniques. Young Master Chang was named the new leader of the sect after his father passed away the year before, he and Wen Qing married to help incorporate the rest of Wens and to strengthen the alliance between the two peoples. They have now blended well into the Chang Sect and the sect as a whole seems to be flourishing now that their numbers have swelled, and word of their healing talents is spreading rapidly."

I sigh and smile "I'm so happy to hear this, I was really worried about them and what fate had in store for them. I hope they will find happiness with their new family and sect."

Lan Zhan takes my hand "You did well asking for the clans to spare them, now they can live peacefully with a clan that treats them as family and takes care of them." He kisses my knuckles.

I sigh and blush "I'm hungry Lan Zhan"

He smiles "You just ate an hour ago," he says as he gets up to get me something to eat.

I pout "But I'm eating for three and growing these babies takes a lot of energy." I say as I pat my baby pooch.

"Besides, now that I don't throw up everything that I eat, I get to enjoy the food more, the start of pregnancy is horrible but now I'm feeling better I want good food, less than five months left and we get to meet our little angels." I rub my stomach and smile down at my baby belly.

Lan Zhan walks back to me with a plate of fruit and cheese he puts it down in front of me I smile up and him "Thank you Lan Zhan this looks really good, can I have spicy noodles later?"

He shakes his head "No, you know that it has been giving you heartburn when you eat spicy food."

I pout "I haven't had it in a while can't I just try it again?"

He looks at me his lips a thin line "You cried the last time because your stomach was burning so bad, you had to sleep propped up laying on my chest and I had to sleep sitting up so I could keep you propped up."

My shoulders drop and I sigh pouting harder "Fine! I want to try it again soon though, promise me!"

He nods humming "Mn, I'll let you try it again in a few weeks and see how you do."

My fathers are grinning listening to us bicker back and forth about spicy food.

Baba chuckles "I was the same way son, when I carried you, almost everything gave me heartburn except for a handful of fruits, nuts and mild cheeses, a few teas, ambrosia and two dishes that I could eat in Ghost City. I was miserable if I ate anything else and I did try to eat other things, but it was useless. I about drove your A-Die crazy crying and pouting because I wanted to eat certain foods and couldn't without setting my stomach on fire. The worst is when you really crave something and when you take a few bites you realize that it's burning in your stomach."

I look at Baba while nibbling on my snack and tear up "The whole time?" I ask disappointed.

He gives me a sympathetic look and nods "Afraid so kiddo"

My bottom lip wobbles as I look at Lan Zhan with tears in my eyes "But I want spicy noodles"

He hugs me "I promise we will try in a few weeks and see how you do alight?"

I nod still nibbling on the same piece of cheese "Ok"

I sigh crestfallen at my Baba's horrible depiction of his pregnancy with me. I want to eat so many things and I haven't been able to. I will just keep trying until I find good foods I want to eat. Lan Zhan watches me for a while then leans over, pulls me into his lap and starts feeding me the fruit and cheese so that I eat it instead of just nibbling it. He kisses my pouting lips after I eat everything on the plate and hugs me while the rest of the council joins us in the council room.

Baba stands up and addresses everyone "The reports we have gotten from the inventory review of the vault shows that most of the items are spiritual items of the gods here now in the capital. Each of the original owners should be able to track their items down and retrieve them. Everyone who will be retrieving an item will need to maintain contact with the council, I don't trust this unknown person that is still in the mortal realm and we haven't found out enough information to know what they have been planning."

All of the council members agree and suggestions are made to just have a few of the more powerful gods find their items first in case they are being led into a trap.

Little Pei stands up "One of those items is mine, I will track it down and let everyone know what I find. Let me start this off so that we don't have a bunch of the minor gods running around getting into trouble. If I see any issues, I will contact the council immediately and ask for assistance."

The council agrees with his plan and he sets off to try and find his missing spiritual item. The rest of the council adjourns and heads to the communication array so that Little Pei can let us know what he finds.

It only takes a few hours for him to find his item and contact us "I found it but it was in an unusual place."

Baba asks "What do you mean?"

He says "Well I expected it to be on the other continent but it was on my home continent only about one hundred and sixty li from Puqi Village. It was in a small cave and was almost too easy to find that I felt like it was intentionally placed there. I didn't find anyone near the area and I am still looking around just to make sure there is nothing around to find."

Nana says "Well check the area then return so that we can check it to make sure there are no spells, talismans, or incantations on it. Better to be safe and check each item as it returns to the capital."

He returns later in the afternoon and the item is checked and found to be clean other than a weak tracking spell on it. Nana removes it easily and the item is placed back into the vault.

The council slowly sends out the other gods in twos and threes to retrieve their own items without any issues, just a weak tracker on each item.
