Chapter 49

Author's POV

Baoshan Sanren looks down at her sleeping grandchild with concern then looks at the others in the room "I'm keeping him sedated for now, I'm worried about his stress levels and how it might affect the babies. Until we can find Wangji and bring him home I don't think we should allow A-Ying to be awake. He's too distraught to realize that Wangji is alive and every time he wakes, he immediately goes into hysterics."

Xie Lian and Hua Cheng look at their son and worry for him and their grandchildren. They have never seen him in this state and agree with Baoshan "We agree Lady of Magic, until he can see for himself that Wangji is alive I don't think he will respond to us, we have already tried multiple times to explain to him that Wangji is alive but it's like he can't understand us. Let's leave him like this for now."

Hua Cheng looks at Baoshan "How long can we sustain him like this? It has already been almost a week, how can we ensure that he is getting the nutrients he needs for the babies and him to stay healthy?"

Baoshan looks at him "Ambrosia once placed on the tongue becomes a liquid, so I have been feeding him small amounts several times a day and he is getting everything he needs from that. The sooner we can get Wangji back the better though."

They keep him in Wangxian, it's easier to make sure that he is comfortable and gets fed enough of the ambrosia to sustain him and the babies while he is kept unconscious. His heavenly family as well as his mortal family all take turns staying with him, watching over him and taking care of him while he sleeps.

What no one has realized is that because of the type of sedation he has been placed under he is trapped in sleep paralysis and sees Lan Zhan being beaten and whipped repeatedly. He always starts unconscious, then he is drugged with some sort of white powder, and no one speaks to him, he is just beaten, whipped and tortured until he passes out again. Lan Ying tries to talk to him, but he can't seem to hear him. He has the same type of collar around his neck that was once used on Lan Ying. He screams and cries trying to get Lan Zhan's attention but no matter how hard he tries he can't seem to communicate with him.

A-Yao is with Lan Ying, he's wiping down his face and hands trying to keep him comfortable. It's been nearly three weeks since they had to sedate him and still no sign of finding Wangji. A-Yao is talking to him about everything and nothing just because he feels that it might somehow reach Lan Ying.

"Oh I almost forgot to tell you that Xichen and I are adopting a little boy, he's so cute his name is Jingyi and we can't wait for you to meet him. You need to hurry up and wake up so that you can meet your nephew." A-Yao is smiling and looks at Lan Ying's face and notices a tear drop roll down the side of his face and into his hair.

It's the only sign he has shown since he was put to sleep, worried he leaves the room to find one of the gods that are usually around. He sees General Pei and runs up to him "General, Lan Ying, he, I saw a tear roll out of his eye. I think he might be waking up please get his grandmother here before he does."

General Pei nods not wasting any time and leaves immediately, he returns with Baoshan a few minutes later and she rushes into the room where Lan Ying is sleeping. She sees the trail from his tears, touches his head and gasps. She turns to the two men "Stay with him and I will be right back."

She disappears and returns with Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, the alarms sound all around the heavenly capital and she huffs "Please turn that blasted thing off for now."

"Both of you come here and look" She touches Lan Ying again and they both see what she saw moments ago.

They watch as he screams for Lan Zhan to hear him and they watch as he is drugged, beaten and tortured. Xie Lian sees the cuff around his neck and zeros in on it, looking closely.
