Chapter 24

The gates of Lotus Pier are a beautiful medium color wood with intricate carvings of lotus flowers, pods and leaves on them. We use the knocker and the gate opens to reveal one of the Jiang sect disciples "Second Master Lan, Young Master Xie Wuxian, so glad to see you again, please enter. Sect Leader Jiang is in Sword Hall, he will be delighted to see you both."

We walk straight from the gate to the main receiving hall known as Sword Hall. I've always loved the air here at Lotus Pier, it's permeated with the sweet scent of lotus flowers mixed with the rich spices from the area, giving the air a blend of the two scents that remind me of my childhood summers. I smile slightly at the memories I have of those summers and the skills and fun I had in those days. I know that everything has now changed but the memories I keep in my heart of laughter, comradery and family will forever be ingrained into every part of me. 

I can see Uncle Fengmian sitting on his Lotus Flower throne as we walk up the stairs and enter into the hall. He smiles when he sees us and opens his arms wide in welcome "A-Ying, Lan Wangji, what brings you two here?"

I smile and hug him "Uncle, we were in the area and thought we would stop by before heading to Gusu, how have you been?"

Still smiling he pats us both on the back and leads us to a low tea table "Sit, we've been great, I hear you are getting married?" He cocks a brow at us.

I smile shyly "We are, I believe the ceremony will be held at Carp Tower. Lan Zhan's family is preparing for it so they are choosing the location." I shrug.

He nods "Yes we have received the invitation letter already, I wonder why they are having it hosted there?"

Lan Zhan clears his throat "Uncle thinks it will be a rather large event and it is large enough to accommodate the anticipated number of guests that will be attending."

He grins "Ah so they have let the Baoshan secret out of the bag eh?"

I nod "I'm guessing so, Baba said that everyone here thinks she is an immortal and she will claim him as her son making me her blood grandchild. Baba said it would give me credibility within the cultivation world which will allow me to be worthy of a clan heir."

He nods thinking seriously "Yes, that would definitely do it although you are her blood kin either way, but this would be safer all the way around and give you the status needed to wed Lan Wangji without any real fuss. Well other than the prejudices against same sex partners."

He tilts his head then chuckles "However, everyone is in awe of the great Baoshan Sanren so I doubt there will be any real fuss made about the two of you marrying, you being her grandchild will definitely elevate you for them. If they name Hua Cheng as City Master that will also be a boon since we know that City Masters are basically the same thing as sect leaders here. With you as heir to a City Master, it will solidify your worth to the cultivation world as equal to Lan Wangji in their eyes."

I guffaw "A-Die is a king I wonder how they would feel if they knew I was a prince not just an average heir?"

He chuckles "Well that would definitely do it but then you would have to give them a kingdom to which he rules and that would give the game away no?" he winks.

Lan Zhan clears his throat "Won't they ask what city he is the City Master of?"

Uncle answers "Generally even though we are acquainted with the other continent and some have traveled there before, none of us that I'm aware of are particularly well-versed on the cities and kingdoms there. It is easier to give a city name and not have to worry over much about a cultivator knowing it than it is a kingdom. There can be hundreds of cities within a single kingdom so even though being a City Master is prestigious it like the sects here depends on its size and kingdom. There are several hundred smaller sects and each leader is respected for being the leader of said sect. the five largest can technically be considered like kingdoms but we don't see ourselves as such, we are a territory with a territory leader. Some territories are very small and some are large just like cities. This is the advantage of naming you're A-Die a City Master, he can name a city and have little fear of anyone knowing the city he names. If he really wants to shock them then he can name the city is really master of because as far as I know even if we haven't traveled to it most are aware of Ghost City."
