"The Sacred what?" Adam asked "Beasts, and their immense power forced them to be hidden here" Shepard stated "Like under a mattress, or in a cookie jar?" Jaden asked "Let him finish" Chazz said "Actually, they're right below you" Shepard stated "They what?" Adam asked "You see, this academy was built to protect the Sacred Beast cards, they were sealed underground. Legend says if these cards were to ever to see the light of day, the world would be no more" Shepard explained, Alexis gulped in fear "No more?" Bastion asked "Damn..." Adam whispered "So let's find them and take them for a spin" Jaden asked "Haven't you been listening?!" Crowler and Adam yelled "This is why you all are here, to protect the cards from the wicked ones" Shepard stated "The wicked ones?" Zane asked "Seven duelists called The Shadow Riders" Shepard stated.
"One is already here, they arrived in the dead of last night's storm" Shepard said "Naturally" Bastion said "So how do we protect the cards?" Alexis asked "By protecting the Seven Spirit Gates, the beasts will be released if one unlocks them, and to do that they need the Seven Spirit Keys. This is how we'll protect the cards" Shepard said ("Seven artifacts that hold an ancient power? That sounds awfully familiar") Adam thought "Here are the keys, you all will take one and guard it with your lives" Shepard said "Wait, if we hold the key's, wont we be targets?" Bastion asked "Yes, but luckily the key's cant be stolen, they must be won in a duel" Shepard answered "If so, I think we should enlist some more help" Adam said, he closed his eyes and fell silent, moments later, Zed appeared in front of the group "Hey" he said.
Adam opened his eyes and looked at the time traveler confused "I didn't do anything" he said "I got the feeling you needed to see me. What's up?" Zed asked "Uh...who's this?" Jaden asked, Adam sighed "Everyone, this is my son, Zed" Adam said "Hello" Zed said, he turned to Alexis "Hey Mom" he said "Mom?!" The group yelled "Long story short, time travel, Zed is my and Alexis' child, he's from the future" Adam stated "Well nice to meet you, Im Jaden" he said "I know you, all of you, Bastion, Zane, Chazz, Banner, Crowler, my mother..." Zed turned "And that would make you Chancellor Shepard" Zed stated.
Adam placed his hand on Zed's shoulder "Now, we need your help, we need to guard these spirit keys from these Shadow Riders to prevent the world from ending" Adam stated "So you called me as the cavalry, you got it, if you die here, I wont exist, so I gotta help" Zed replied "Wait, but you're here, doesn't that mean we win no matter what?" Jaden asked "Nothing is guaranteed, Jaden anything can change" Zed stated "Adam, are you sure that Zed's a good enough duelist to help?" Bastion said "He's my flesh and blood, that alone should answer you" Adam said, Zed grinned smugly.
"Now, I understand if some you want to back out, but if not, who want's to save the world?" Shepard asked, Adam grabbed a key "Im in, as you can all see, I have a family to tend to" he said, Jaden took a key "Count me in" he chuckled, followed by Zane, then Bastion, then Chazz, then Zed, then Alexis "Hey, what about me?" Crowler asked, Zed handed him his key "Here, me and dad can alternate" he said "Sounds good to me" Adam said "Thank you, Zed" Crowler replied "It's fine if I don't have one" Banner stated "Now, the best should go first so...I'll go first" Jaden said "You?! You couldn't beat a drum!" Crowler yelled "He beat you" Adam said "Either way, that's not important, if the Shadow Riders need these key's to end the world, I don't they're gonna play by our rules" Zed stated "Zed's right, so be on guard" Shepard stated.
A few hours later
"Im still trying to wrap my head around this whole 'time traveling son' thing" Alexis said "Yeah, I was confused about it too" Adam stated "So eventually...we..." Alexis said, her face going red "Yep" Adam replied "This is...I don't even know" Alexis sighed "Hey Dad, let me get your key, if a Shadow Rider shows up, I want to show them how we duel in the future" Zed said "Sure, I'd love to see how my sone duels" Adam replied, handing Zed his key "Speaking if which, the Shadow Riders are probably gonna try and pick us off at our weak links, and Jaden's the biggest target with the Slifer Red on, we have to warn him" Alexis stated "Damn, you're right, let's go" Adam said.
The three ran for the Slifer Red dorm, and noticed a purple glow coming out of Jaden's room "Oh hell no, Jaden doesn't get to fall until he duels me!" Adam yelled, the tree burst into his room and walked into a barrier, as an evil laugh could he heard when everything went white. Jaden, Adam, Alexis and Zed appeared in a volcano, a barrier holding them over the lava "What the hell?" Adam asked "Where are we?" Alexis asked "A very weird dream" Jaden said, a fiery dragon burst from the lava "This is no dream" a voice said, the dragon hit the barrier and a figure walked from the flames.
"Who are you?!" Zed yelled "Call me Nightshroud" the figure said "Im gonna assume you're a Shadow Rider" Adam said "Yes, I was hoping to take the red's key, but three for one works for me" Nightshroud stated "Well Zed, now's your chance" Adam said "Hold up, you're gonna duel?" Jaden asked "Yeah, Im gonna smoke this bastard" Zed answered, the medallion around Adam's neck glowed as the one Nightshoud had glowed as well "The Grave keeper must be getting sloppy, but you wont beat me like you beat him, and to make sure, I brought friends Nightshroud stated "What's that mean?" Jaden asked "Say hello to Syrus and Chumley!" Nightshroud said, the group looked down to see Syrus and Chemley trapped in a bubble on a rock "This is the nature of a Shadow Game" Nightshroud stated.
"You're pathetic, you need to take hostages to stress us out and make us make bad moves, but I don't stress" Zed stated "We'll see about that" Nightshroud said "Kick his ass!" Adam yelled "Get my friends back" Jaden said "Don't worry, I can do both" Zed replied "I suggest you stop talking, that barrier they're in isn't built to last" Nightshroud said, he then pulled out a blank card "Not only that, but if you lose, your soul will be sealed in this card, my soul will be sealed as well if I lose, but lets be reall here, that wont happen" Nightshroud stated "Well, I was about to say the same thing, without all the soul talk" Zed stated, the two activated their duel disks "It's showtime!" Zed yelled.
