The Saddest Word

When asked the saddest word

Most people don't know how to reply

But I heard someone say

The saddest word

In the English language is

"Almost"

And I almost couldn't agree more

Because

My saddest word would be your name

Because the first time I heard it

I was never the same

Your name was the phrase

I repeat in my mind

Day after day

And night after night

When not thinking of it

I was thinking of you

And every chance I had

I asked for more and more

I needed you then

But I need you even more now

I need to hold you close

And hear your voice

I need to feel your breath

And never let go

You saved my life

But with one little wave

I let you consume me

In more ways then one

And I let you deceive me

And tell me

What to become

You tore me apart

So you could fix you and

You stole my heart

And used it to mend yours

And I gladly gave it up

So you would love me more

But after it was done

All said and cleaned

You left me crying

On the cold bathroom floor

I felt like throwing up

Now all I feel is pain

When I hear

Your

Four letter name

We almost made it

We were almost right

Well....

Almost

Might almost

Be the 2nd saddest of the night
