Sterling's POV
The pain on my side is getting stronger, but I continue to fight. Blocking the swing directed to my face before directing my own punch to her face, making contact. I quickly take another swing but this time my arm is grabbed. I am placed in an arm lock, unable to free myself. I struggle to escape. When I am almost free, I am brought to the ground. Arms wrapping around my neck. I am now stuck in a choke hold.
"Tap out"
"No" I refuse. Not the smartest move.
"KJ tap" the air leaving my body quickly. Struggling to get any amount of air into my lungs. As I begin to feel weak I reluctantly tap my hand on the mat. I am immediately released, oxygen entering my body once again. I lay on the floor in defeat trying to get my breath back.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to fight with anger" my ma scolds me before extending a hand out to help me up. "And also to tap before you pass out again"
"Um, probably four times now" I answer back as I am pulled up.
My ma shakes her head but still laughs. "Okay smartass, next time listen" I know that no matter what she can never stay mad at me. She may be an ex spy but she is a total softy when it comes to her kids.
"Alright Stellan your turn" my sister takes her position before they begin to fight.
Since me and my twin were twelve, we have been training with my ma. We would've started earlier, but my other mom didn't allow us to. She said we were still too young and that we couldn't train till we were at least twelve. That was nine years ago. Me and my sister are now 21 and yet still losing to our ma.
I watch as my sister is dropped to the mat and pinned. She also taps out. One of these days however me and my sister will win. Stellan comes and sits next to me in defeat. We watch as my ma beats are younger brother and sister.
"I can't believe that none of us still haven't won once" I complain as we walk upstairs for dinner.
"You all do remember that I'm an ex spy right?" my ma compliments.
"We will win one day" Stellan replies. My ma just laughs. We are all good fighters, especially compared to regular people, but my ma is on a whole different level.
We all head upstairs to shower then get dressed. We aren't allowed to have dinner until we are all clean, mom's rule.
I still can't believe that my parents left mine and Stellan's rooms the same. I thought they would change them or something when we went to college. Moving back home feels both great and weird.
Me and my twin graduated college about six months ago. We both went to the same university but majored in different things. I studied business and she studied software engineering. She was definitely the smarter twin. Took after our uncle Sloane. He taught her everything she knows about coding.
Right after graduation we both started working. I work at Vanderbilt Enterprises with mom and Stellan works at our aunt Presley's company, Novak Technologies, as a software engineer. We both were really lucky to have the family that we have. There is no way that recent graduates like us could get the jobs we have if it weren't for our family, but that doesn't mean we didn't work for it. Both of us were straight A students at Vanderbilt Prep High School and at university. Stellan of course was the class valedictorian at Yale and high school.
School was a very important and big thing for our moms. They made sure that we got a great education since we were little. They wanted us to learn as much as we could. By the time we were in high school we knew three languages.
