Elliott's POV
I let Sterling's family all see her before I decided to walk in. I want her family to know that she is okay. It was hard for me to wait, but they needed to know first. Her parents let me know that she was okay as soon as they could, which helped calm me down a bit. I just needed to wait my turn now.
"Elliott, she's asking for you" Drew says, catching my attention. I get up from my chair quickly and make my way over to the room.
As I walk in, Sterling is laughing with her siblings who were sitting on the bed with her. Her face isn't covered in blood anymore but now you can see all the bruising. Her hands are bruised as well. I assume there are defensive wounds from her fighting off the attackers.
"We'll give you two a minute" Blair says. They all make their way out of the room, leaving only me and Sterling.
I am at a loss for words. Nothing is coming out.
"You should see the other guy" she says trying to break the silence. "It's not as bad as it looks. I promise" she continues with my no response.
"Sterling, it-I-" not being able to speak I walk over and embrace her softly. Not wanting to hurt her. "I'm so happy you are okay. I don't-I don't know what I would do if things were worse"
"I'm okay baby" she says as our foreheads lean on one another.
"What happened?" I ask as we pull away.
"I don't remember everything. It is still a bit of a blur, but I remember walking to my car. I felt like someone was following so I called my ma and as I was about to unlock my car to get in someone came behind me. They dragged me away from the car. When I tried to fight them off they realized that I can actually fight. I got a few hits in before two more came from behind and held me. That is when one of them started to use me as a punching bag. I don't know why I was attacked. They didn't even try to take any of my stuff"
"Why were you at Novak Technologies? Did you see anything that could identify any of the men who attacked you?"
"I was there because I forgot to send over some documents that I was suppose to send over yesterday. They were important so I drove over myself. And all of them had masks on. One was a woman. I could tell from her figure. She had this tattoo on her wrist that I got a glance of. It looked like a heart rate frequency"
"A heart rate frequency?"
"Yeah I'm like ninety percent sure that is what I saw" Sterling says. There is no way that it is her. It couldn't be her. Why would she risk the mission like that.
"I have a headache can we not talk about this anymore?" Sterling asks.
"Yes of course baby. Do you want me to get you some food or water or anything?"
"Actually I am really hungry and this hospital food is absolutely disgusting. I think I'd rather be shot than eat it" she says, making me laugh a bit. "There it is, my favorite smile" she says, making me blush a bit.
"I'll go get you some edible food. I don't need you to end up in worse condition" I kiss her forehead before leaving to grab her some food.
I can't help but to keep thinking about what Sterling said. That tattoo. I know that it isn't a unique tattoo, but what are the chances of it being in the same spot on two different people in this town, that can both fight, and that both have hatred for the Kanes.
I need to know the answer to my questions. I drive as quickly as possible to make sure I get back on time. As I pull up the rage starts to increase. I barge into the house and see who I am looking for. The anger increases more when I notice the busted nose and black eye. There is still dry blood on her face. Two other guards are also cleaning themselves up. Sterling really did give a good fight back.
