chapter 22

Liam had been able to spend time with Harper when she was transferred back to Clover ward. She was cuddled up to Liam when she groaned. "What's wrong Harp? '' he asked. "Tummy," she said. Liam rubbed it and could feel it was hard. He buzzed for a nurse or dr to assess Harper even though he had an idea of what could be happening but didn't want to embarrass the girl by voicing it out loud.

A nurse came in, "Want me to stay?" Liam said. Harper gripped Liam's hand. "Of course," Liam said as the nurse checked the girl's vitals first. Liam tried his best to keep Harper calm during the assessment by caressing the fingers from the girl's hand gripped in his. "Don't be nervous, Harp. Everything is going to be ok," he told the girl quietly. Harper nodded. "Her vitals are normal, does it hurt anywhere?" the nurse asked. "She complained about her tummy hurting. I rubbed it for her to help soothe the pain and felt it was hard." Liam answered, once again avoiding saying his thoughts aloud. "Have you been to the toilet recently?" the nurse said. Harper shrugged. Liam looked at her with a confused face but didn't say anything about it. "I will look at Harper's charts and then get a dr to examine her," The nurse said. "Thanks," Liam said as Harper groaned. "What's wrong Harp?" He asked. Harper didn't answer. "Is it just the pain? squeeze my hand once for yes and twice for no" Liam asked. Harper squeezed it once, doubtful, then twice, not really knowing for sure.

Liam grabbed a bowl just incase unsure if the girl needed it. "Does it hurt anywhere other than your tummy Harp? can you point to it" Liam said as a dr walked in. Harper wasn't sure what to answer. "Hi Harper, I'm the dr I'm just going to examine you," the dr said as he walked in. Liam and Harper nodded. Liam stayed next to Harper all the time. The dr finished examining Harper. "Harper, it looks like you are constipated. The nurse will give you some medicine, want me to call your parents?" He asked. Harper nodded, wanting at least one of her parents to be with her. The dr went to make the call. Sienna picked up.

Liam kept the bucket in his hold in case Harper threw up due to the constipation medicine once it was given by the nurse. She threw the medicine and more up straight away. Liam comforted the girl. Harper groaned in pain and anger due to her system rejecting the medicine without giving it a chance to work.

Mikey was still staying with Robin and Liam. He had been able to visit both his dad and sister a few times. He was worried about everyone. His trial for the under 18s football/soccer team was in about a week's time. Every day he pushed through his worries and did his best on practice at college to be ready for the trial. He also tried to keep his grades in his theoretical lessons at the top. He was doing the best he could do to keep everything balanced. He went back to his cousin's home once his classes were over for the day. Robin asked him how college was. "I'm doing well. Trying to keep grades and everything at the top" Michael said. "That's good. If it gets too much, let me know and I can speak to your college." Robin said. Michael nodded, "thank you, grandad," He said although he hoped for that not to happen and that he could manage well with everything. They went to watch something on the tv, waiting for Liam to arrive so the three could eat together. They heard the door being knocked.

Robin opened it and smiled as he saw Tricia at the door. Tricia smiled back as she was let inside by Robin. "Hi again, Robin," She said as she walked in. "Hey how are Z and Katie?" Robin asked. "I left the three of them asleep in the same room. They were fine." Tricia said. Robin smiled "That's good we have made dinner if you want some." Robin said. "Thank you but I'll wait with you," Tricia said, noticing Liam wasn't with them yet and knowing they wouldn't eat without him. The two walked into the lounge and sat down. "Nan," Michael said and went to hug his nan. "How's dad and Katie?" Mikey asked after the pair hugged and went back to sit down. "They were asleep when I left the room to come here." Tricia said. The pair hugged before going to sit down. A while later Robin got a message from Liam asking to eat without him. The three of them sat at the table and ate. They enjoyed what Robin had made.
