"It still hurts," Mom complained. "Do you think you need stitches?" Rory asked her as we made our way over to Luke's. "Probably," Mom sighed.

"Then go to a doctor," I suggested. "Then I'll never see you or Rory again," Mom pouted. "I'm starving..I need my pancakes."

"Why were you even on the roof in the first place?" I asked Mom. "Because one, you hate ladders and two, you hate heights."

"The rain gutters had to be cleaned!" Mom protested. "Then hire someone," Rory suggested. "It's better than whatever you were doing."

Mom looked underneath her bandage. "Stop at that! You'll make it worse," I scolded her.

"Let's go in," Rory suggested. "Before you make your hand worse and Heather turns into Grandma."

We sat down inside Luke's and Mom looked around. "I don't see Luke anywhere..oh no."

Me and Rory looked to where Caesar was. "Caesar's cooking?" I sighed. "His pancakes stink," Rory grumbled.

"They do stink," Mom agreed. "Wait here, you two."

We watched as Mom snuck up the stairs. "Okay, Hezzy, start talking," Rory ordered.

"About?" I shrugged. "You and Mom, something is up and it's been happening since Dad left, tell me."

I sighed. "They got into a bad fight and...I heard everything, I tried to get Dad to stop yelling at Mom but..."

"Oh, Hezzy," Rory wrapped her arm around me. "I just stormed out, I couldn't listen to anymore, but Dad accused Mom of blaming him for everything. But every time Dad visits, the same thing happens, Mom's relationship at the time ends and Dad leaves her a mess. It is his fault! Coming around and parading Sherry? Who the hell does he think he is?!"

"Yikes," Rory muttered.

"I think I'm ready to get a tattoo," Mom announced. "Rewind to five years ago," I mumbled. "When Mom said she was ready."

"Evil!" Mom gasped. "I mean it this time, I want Mel Brooks."

"The poor guy," Rory laughed.

"Hey....what's Luke doing?" Mom asked as we walked by the diner. "Rory, Heather, you guys get all the ice cream."

We walked off in the other direction. "Have you seen Jess since that day?" Rory asked me. "A couple of times, he's seen me down before," I told her. "When the two of us were fighting and when we were fighting with Mom."

We got the ice cream and Mom came out of the diner. "Finally hired someone to clean the rain gutters," Mom told us. "Who?" Rory asked her.

"Jess, he's looking for a bit of extra money, so, I hired him," Mom told me. "Can I call him Tess while he's working?"

"Don't annoy him," I sighed.

"You totally like him," Rory teased me. "We're friends, that's it," I told her.

"You got your footage?"

"Yup, I'm making some sort of short madness," I laughed. "I have footage of everything, I have this footage of a fight in Chilton and I'm making a montage of some sorts."

"Good luck."

Tessa hung up the phone as I messed around on my computer, editing. I put my head set on as I spliced in the music from Mortal Kombat.

"Heather!" I heard Rory yell. "Busy!" I yelled back. "Doing what?" she called up the stairs. "Making history," I shouted down the stairs. "Get your butt down here!" Rory yelled.
