"Who's doing laundry tonight?" Mom asked us. "Not me, it's Hezzy's turn," Rory pointed at me. "I haven't had any clean underwear Hezzy," Mom whined. "You're going commando?" I shuddered. "I'll do it tonight, but I'm putting a red sock in the machine with Rory's whites."

"EVIL!" Rory shoved me and I rolled my eyes. "Mom, buy new underwear."

The three of us walked into Luke's that morning to find ourselves in what seemed to be a spat between Luke and Taylor. Highlights in my life, their fights were funny.

"We're talking a few streamers and a paper turkey, how's that going to hurt?" Taylor asked him.

"No! Nothing coloured orange," Luke insisted. "Can we get coffee?" Mom piped up. "With muffins?" I added. "Warmed?" Rory added.

"This is the Autumn festival," Taylor argued. "Your show is across the street, you're smack dab in the middle! You have to decorate!"

"I don't have to do anything but serve food," Luke retorted. "And coffee!" Mom shouted.

"And muffins!" I cried out dramatically. "That are warm!" Rory yelled. "I'm getting tired of this conversation Taylor!" Luke groaned. Mom tried to wave him over to our table but failed. She even tried waving money but he and Taylor were too busy arguing.

"Mom's not wearing any underwear!" I piped up.

Everyone knew Luke had a crush on Mom, except Mom.

"EVIL!" Mom elbowed me in the ribs and stood up. "What kind of muffin do you want?"

"Chocolate please," I said sweetly. "Blueberry!" Rory grinned. Luke handed Mom the tongs without looking back at her. "What, no tip?"

"Serve your customers next time."

"Hezzy, Hezzy, Hezzy!" Rory ran up the stairs and pounced on me. "AH!" I shouted out in surprise. "Have fun stalking your boyfriend?" I asked her, staring at a magazine. "I got kissed!" she told me and the magazine was immediately abandoned. "Details!" I demanded, giving Rory my full and undivided attention. "Why'd you get cornstarch?"

"I may have shoplifted," she admitted, scratching the back of her neck. "Dirty!" I exclaimed. "So, you and Dean I assume?"

"Yes," Rory nodded. "We were in Doose's..."

"The market? Not very romantic," I pointed out. "On aisle three," Rory added. "Oh, next to the bug spray, I take it back, he's Casanova," I chuckled. "Oh, my God, he kissed me!" Rory gaped. "He offered me a soda, put them both behind his back and asked me to pick one, then he kissed me!"

"Well, I didn't shoplift during my first kiss," I teased her. "Meanie!" she whined, hitting me with a pillow. "Does Mom know about you and Dave?"

"Heck no, she'd freak out if I even looked at someone," I told her. "She doesn't know about me and Dean though," she murmured. "Well, that's why Dave and I were discreet, because we didn't want gossip spreading like wildfire."

Unfortunately, Taylor, being the control freak he is, he made me, Rory, Lane and Tessa dress up as pilgrims but Tessa and Lane dug up some dirt on Dean.

"He likes Nick Drake, yuck," Tessa explained to us. "Allergic to walnuts..."

"Now we have a way to kill him, if necessary," I chuckled. "He also had a girlfriend before, Beth, they were together for a year," Lane told us. "He wasn't really in love with her."

"How'd you get all this?" I asked them. "Todd, his best friend," Tessa grinned. "Lane wants to go out with him."

"Oh and most importantly, the only thing Dean talks about is Rory this, Rory that," Lane said in a mocking tone. "Oh Rory, will you marry me?" Tessa fake swooned.
