Never in my life had I thought that just a birthmark could make me live longer. Even though I had no idea how long but at least I was breathing till now. As soon as Grey saw the birthmark, he got all so furious and got in front of me with his super speed. A furious expression with his deadly face, fangs extended and his mouth stained with my blood. I dared to ask him why he was looking at me with an expression like a child who had just seen a ghost. He pinched my waist hard and threatened to kill me.

"Are you serious Becky, is it really a birthmark?" he questioned pulling back on his normal face.

"That's exactly what I said to you" I answered too exhausted to say anything more.

Then he turned away from me, was he planning to kill me right away? It didn't seem so, he moved a step away from me. Yeah it seemed I had a little time to think but I still couldn't get it. Why was my birthmark so important or whatever Grey considered it?

It was simply a light greyish mark that looked like a tree trunk with strange looking visible roots. Most of my schoolmates said that I was slapped by a witch right on the back. I laugh it off most of the time, and when dad took me to the doctor after I insisted about it, the doc said it was nothing abnormal and so I learnt to ignore it. Now I was surprised that a vampire could be surprised about it.

When Grey was about to step out I called him back and strangely he stopped a bit to listen

"Do you mind freeing me off this shackles, please" I whimpered helplessly.

"You expect me to be merciful to you after all you did to my people?" he grunted angrily

"I am sorry" I swallowed

He pounced on me his strong arm tightly holding my sore neck and squeezed.

"Never use that word ever again anywhere near me ever!" he warned under clenched teeth. I gave him a blank look and nodded mentally. He let go for a split of a second I saw guilt in his eyes, slowly he lifted his hands brushing them against my sore arms reached for the shackles and loosened them. My legs being too weak to support me, I ended up falling into his arms. He held me carelessly and I gripped his shirts for support as he reached for the shackles captivating my legs. He loosened me to the floor and touched my sour face, I thought he was going to hurt me and so I grabbed his hand defensively. He did nothing other than to pass it over my face and lay me against the wall gently.

"Thank you" I whispered before he stepped out of the cell locking it behind him.

I closed my eyes and balled myself up hugging my knees closely. I had no idea when this animals would stop showing some pity on me and rip me apart. I felt it, it was coming very soon they were  more than ready to kill me. Just then memories of the accident that led me into all this began playing in my mind. Who were the people in the black van following us? Does it mean if I manage to escape from this place there will some people still hunting me? I was very scared, and who was there to share my thoughts and problems with. It was so frustrating, I only prayed for a miracle.

I lay for some time with an urge to cry, but my tear glands were very dry I had no more tears to shed. I had cried enough and if I kept crying I was going to change nothing. The steel doors opened and I sat up alert my heart pounding and adrenaline awakening. I strained my swollen eyes to look into the dark but I could see nothing. Then out of the shadows the chummy looking lady; Arianna stepped out of the shadows carrying a tray in her hand. She smiled at me but I gave her a tired eye.

"Hey, I brought you something to eat" she announced as if telling her daughter or someone so important to her. My stomach rumbled, yeah I was angry, I had been too tired and scared to think about it.
