Waking up in Grey's bed, I'd expected to find Grey beside me but he was not there. I was all alone entangled in his soft white sheets, sleeping comfortably as if I was home on weekend. I sat up and looked around in the neatly arranged room then stepped out of bed walked to the bathroom to take a shower since there was nothing to do in this unknown place. Once I was done I found the gym shorts and shirts that I was wearing previously clean and neatly folded on the sink. I noticed the hickeys very visible on my shoulder. It made memories of what transpired between Grey and I flood in my mind. A deep blush crept on my cheek that made me want to slap myself. Pushing everything to the back of my mind I decided to dress up, I was about to start dressing when the bathroom door swung open. Arianna.
"Oh, hey I was looking for you, I thought you escaped"
"Funny, where should I escape to? I lost my parents the day I got here, even if I manage to escape, I have nowhere to go" I simply said raking my fingers through my messy hair.
"I came to bring you breakfast, and help you with your hair before going back to my other duties" she said quickly.
"Thanks, is that all you do here?"
"I only serve my master, Grey. Every leader here has a servant but some are general servants. Come on have something to eat you must be starving." I followed her, she had brought the casual steaming cup of coffee and some nice chocolate cookies. My favourite, I began eating and she just watched me, I wasn't an eater though.
A white lie!
"Could I ask something?" she nodded "what is the problem with the enchanted knife if someone injures you with it?"
She watched me for a while "it weakens your power and healing takes a long time. Sometimes you can end up dead"
"Dead? So Grey will die? I had no idea it would be enchanted in the first place. Dad gave it to me before the accident, said I protect it. Now I ended up injuring Grey with it having no idea how bad it would be. So foolish, I dug my own grave" I was mad at myself...no...at dad he could have told me at least that my world was somehow involving supernatural creatures.
"If you didn't know don't blame yourself but the trouble doesn't end there. Just relax in the meantime, he's not planning to kill you any time soon." She sounded happy.
"Why is he still keeping me alive?"
"Your birthmark is what is keeping you alive, I don't know much about it but I heard so. It might be useful which I didn't know how but yeah it is that keeping you alive" I swallowed hard once she was done speaking
"It is nothing important really, you should eliminate me already rather than giving me false hopes and yet you'll kill me at the end" my throat hurt, I wanted to cry so hard, I was hopeless with no reason to live any longer.
"Don't worry you might end up lucky if you are" she said soothingly.
I finished my breakfast unwillingly and placed the dishes back on the tray leaning back on the sofa. I was really mad at Grey, why was he keeping me alive? Giving me false hopes? I wanted to cry now.
"Come on, I should try and make your hair" she said pulling me to the dressing table. She picked the comb and blow dryer and began mending my messy hair. I sat quietly wondering when they will realize my birthmark was nothing fascinating and kill me. Will they hang me? Shoot me, did they have guns? Or they will simply suck my veins dry. I was very scared, could he find just anything interesting in me and spare me?
"Done" Ari announced proudly
I looked up at my reflection in the mirror, my hair was neatly straightened it was wavy towards the end. Shiny and clean, I smiled at how good it looked.
