CHAPTER 69: WHAT I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN

“Becky … wake up.. wake up, please … wake up…
I suddenly sat up in bed bathed in sweat, I heaved my head spinning painfully. I looked around the room was dimly lit, Abigail and Elia were standing at the edge of the bed watching me in horror.
“You are finally awake, what happened? It was as if you have had a seizure or some kind of heart attack are you alright?” I sighed
“Am fine, what is the matter?”
“We came to see you. Everyone else is out taking care of a lot of stuff” What is the matter?” I sat up and stretched my arms. Elia sat at the edge of the bed, Abigail leaned against the night stand folding her arms over her chest.
“You must be scared, and confused right?” I looked at her but said nothing “Sweetheart, we got your back, you are not all alone in this, we’re here for you. Talk to me, I will hear you out”
“I have nothing to say” I got out of bed sliding my feet into the slippers.
“He is your mate Becky, are you going to reject him?”
“That is up to me Elia, it has nothing to do with you”
“It got a whole package to do with me sweetheart, he is a master and so are you. Instability of the two of you can shake the entire vampire clan in one way or the other. Besides, he waited for you a whole two hundred and twenty and twenty years. Do you know how long that is?”
“I would never know, but what if I was never kidnapped, what if none of this happened?”
“That is not what you should be thinking about right now!” I brushed my hair off my face feeling extremely frustrated, just from a heart wrecking to a lady, no, a pregnant lady behaving like my mother out of the blues.
“What should I think about? What do you want me to do? Jump all over in excitement that he is now my man? I thought I would do that, but I think I was just getting ahead of myself because he knows how to flatter me without even trying. If I stay, I would never go back to the cities, I will be stuck here forever and being human will basically be a history. If I don’t leave now, then I would never get a chance to leave, do you really understand what I mean?” Elia looked at me the whole time as if I had fallen from the sky.
“You would not understand, have you ever wanted something so badly? I bet you have … now that is how badly I want my normal life back. Just that badly!”
“Do you love him?”
“Is that a question you should be asking me?”
“Do you?”
“I would be crazy if I don’t”
“If you love him, then why are you hurting him?”
“He will not hurt, he will miss me for a few days, then I will be forgotten, he will love someone new, then we will be at peace”
“You think it will be that easy? To forget you, to love someone new? You think so?”
“You are really ignorant but I wish it were that easy!”
“Then tell me how hard it is!”
“You will have to find out on your on” Abigail cut in
“Right now your walls are high up to the sky, you would only believe in what you see”
She dumped a small black leather book on the bed, she looked at me for a moment then sighed tiredly.
“If you think it is worthy your time, read it. if not, be ready to depart as soon as the sun goes down. Your belongings are well set, I won’t be there to say goodbye, am not good at them.” She gave me a sad look and then held Elia’s hand
“Come on, we should go”
They walked out of the room silently and went away as if they were everything in the room, I felt alone and abandoned. It was strange and a wholly new feeling nibbling at my gut carelessly. I looked at the book, then went into the bathrooms to take a shower. I strolled around the coven, everyone was busy moving around, sealing the coven with magic and strengthening the defense of the coven. Was he really that scary? The vampires despised him as well as feared him. What made him become a vampire hunter? Was he really a vampire? What did Rain mean when he said ‘not anymore’ can a vampire become human? Or he became a witch? Maybe that is why they hated him, right?I could possibly not understand what was happening!I strolled into Grey’s room, he didn’t want to see me, so they had pushed the meeting to today so he wouldn’t see me. It was to be tomorrow, but now he was at the Flakes coven with the council elders and Steele.
Jayden was left behind to keep watch, he was basically the most trusted man. He was always trying to keep his points rationally and he never leaned on one side and forgotten the other, I think he is the most civilized vampire I have met around.
The room was well made, just how we had left it. He didn’t spend the night here, not that it had anything to do with me but it bothered me. Was I at fault?I pushed the cabinet aside and entered the piano room I had always kept myself from entering. It was clean and well made, the white piano stood magnificently at the center of the room. I smiled at the perfect object that was all beautiful and outstanding.
I walked over, running my fingers on the piano keys. It was sweet and soothing; I sat down and played a rune slowly. Oh, I missed this thing. I played another slow tune for a few minutes before standing up and walking around the room. There were a few cabinets, an old guitar at the far end of the room and some other old music instruments. I opened the cabinet; it was full of photo albums. The album basically belonged to Regina, most of the snaps were of her playing the piano or singing on stage. She was really into music, no doubt she had a melodious voice.
I would love to hear her singing, or we sing together then. It is weird that we had the same preferences.
The next book was smaller, a diary. I opened it, it was not as old as the albums, it was new and maybe still in use.
First entry
she is dead, Regina is dead. I am to blame it is all my fault! I should have protected her.
Second entry
He followed her, he is dead as well. Now am all alone, without a sister, best friend or a brother. Am doomed … who is this beast?
Third entry
He sent me a note, he said I should destroy his generation earlier or I will be doomed once she gets her powers back. I will not spare anyone who dares come against the vampire clan!
