I opened my eyes that were soar. I looked around, I was in Grey’s room lying on the coach. There were three figures surrounding me. Grey, Jayden and Adelyn. My three wonderful enemies. I sat up, Grey tried to push me back but I slapped his hands off.
“Am fine!” I stated fiercely.
“How long have I been here?” I asked no one in specific, whoever wanted to answer let him or her answer.
“Five minutes at most” Stated Jayden.
“Not too bad at all, am leaving” I stood up heading to the door, I glanced at the bed…the sheets were black as coal. I wasn’t feeling remorseful or happy either way, I was wondering what actually happened with me.
“Be careful, I don’t think you are fine at all” Adelyn cautioned, I glanced at her, the very person who didn’t hesitate to hit me mindlessly
“Being fine or not, is none of your damn business. Get that in your pretty head will you?” I raised a brow at her fallen face and walked out of the room.
“She got some nerve, doesn’t she?” I heard her say, my super hearing sense were doing me no good at all.
“Don’t do anything you will regret Addy, leave her alone. Keep your distance from her” that was Grey warning
“As if you are the angel here, didn’t you play with her mind and feelings just a moment ago?”
“Are you questioning my actions?” Grey growled
“You could say that, and you can’t stop me can you?” She chuckled “Look, I don’t give a damn if you love or you are attracted to her or anything that you may use to shift my stance. I dislike her and despise her so much. And soon she will taste the second wave of my wrath. She was a crying puppy during the first, the second will be a lot better since she seems to have some guts. I love challenges, and now we shall see what good a human can do to defend her feeble self” Addy sneered with hatred and disgust in her voice.
I paused then walked back to the room pushing the door slightly open, the three figures inside turned to face me.
“Sorry for interrupting your heated critic fellas. I came for you Adelyn, it seems you love challenging those who are below you” I chuckled “You never know when the eagle sharpened its talons my dear princess, and if you think the eagle is still a chick you might be too late to dodge. Meet me down at the arena at dawn with your fellow friends” I smiled broadly.
“Don’t be a fearful puppy, I would love to smell the kind of barbeque a vampire princess will make” I grinned again “Don’t miss it love”
“You…” she began approaching me but I lifted my hand to stop her.
“Not now, I said at dawn you impatient moron” I smirked before shutting the door.
That was a good one, but how am I going to beat her up. She was stronger than me with heightened powers and senses. Was I walking down to hell with my eyes shut thinking I would befriend the devil not to burn me? Stupid me, but I would try at least.
With that I sped off to the roof top where Sandy and Abi were waiting. The glanced at me as I halted a step away from me.
“You got an incredible speed there girl, how?” Abi asked with interest.
“No idea, I woke up a few days ago and I had become an incredible creature all of a sudden” I shrugged it off.
“Does the master know?” my gaze darkened, I was not going to speak about that brute who never thought twice before hurting my feelings.
Sandy noticed, she cleared her throat “So tell me guys you had fun yesterday?” she asked as I began jogging according to Abi’s instructions.
“Yeah” Abi giggled “Except that our lovely student here is an honest drunkard”
“Did you have to mention that Abi?” I asked halting for a moment before me resuming with my jogging.
“Yeah, you don’t know how adorable you looked when you confessed your love for Grey. He had smiled briefly when I looked at him, his smile disappeared” Abi explained.
“What a fairy tale” I sneered as I got down for some sit-ups.
“And the way he carried you all the way home…someone could have thought you are a precious gem he never wants to lose. Even Regina never received such treatment” my cheeks burned but I focussed on my exercise to prevent my mind from wandering any further.
“Don’t get me wrong guys, but to be sincere we have nothing. Maybe it is an infatuation…you know” I tried my shot to stop them from poking me any further.
“Really Becky? Who are you fooling here yourself or us who have seen what you guys do even when you are lost in each other’s gaze? Come on girl!” Abi stated with a broad smile
“I don’t think infatuation can go far to the point where you put your life at stake for him. He is a vampire and not to mention your meeting wasn’t a pleasant one. He hurt you a billion times but you were willing to defend him even when you were all alone in that mission” Sandy explained, I sat up panting and sweating approaching the punching bag.
“Think whatever you want to think girls” I tested the punching bag and threw a punch “What I know is that no matter what happens I will be there to help someone in need”
I kicked and punched the bag furiously sweat dripping from my hair making it stick on my forehead.
‘To the point of trying magic to retrieve him, draining your veins for his recovery. To add he broke down as if life had been drained from him when you got injured while trying to protect him from Keith. I wish you could have seen him that day in the ball room, he howled like an animal when you passed out. His eyes were bloody, he was wild anyone who dared to get close was kicked away like a flies. The ball room became cold very cold that it affected the vampires. It is the same thing that happened when Dermot died!”
I stared into pace slowing my pace of punching the bag, listening intently.
“He freaked out so much till he had to go get a doctor in broad daylight to treat you first before he used his healing magic, those weeks he left the coven duties t Jayden. He was cold and unapproachable, he was like venom. He fed you his blood and used a lot of magic on you so you can get well. It shocked us all” Abi was exaggerating, right? How could Grey be wasted over a useless human like me? Ignoring all she had said I increased my pace of punching the bag then she said.
“I sometimes think, you could be his mate!” my eyes widened turning to face her forgetting I had punched the bag hard.
It came swaying and crushing on my side throwing me off the roof. I went flying down gravity taking its cause, I wasn’t dying was I? I opened my eyes to find myself in Grey’s arms.
WHAT!?
My eyes widened in shock, how the hell did he get here…and…and how did he know I was going to fall?
We landed back on the roof, I wiggled in his arms and got down still shocked and confused.
Sandy and Abi were standing at the edge eyes wide in shock with horrified expressions. I swallowed!
“How…how…” no word came nothing at all, and this is how petrified I become around him. I make a fool out of myself around him. And now…I can’t stop my heart from racing out of ecstasy.
“Your heartbeat is a little crooked when you are falling and you don’t keep your mind at check either. You lose the grip on it and I can’t help but intrude” Grey said.
“You were here all the time?” I asked again.
“Nope, we were going out to set the boundaries. We got some rogues roaming near the border we were going there. It was then when I heard your loud thoughts and crooked heartbeat banging loudly in my ears. I had no choice other than to come and save your pretty ass. I think I deserve a thank you there” He was teasing me and hell, I was falling for it. I bit my cheek blushing like a stupid teenager. And I had completely forgotten what he had said to me just an hour ago!
“Thank you” I said.
He took a step closer leaning close to my ear, his warm breath made me gasp. He chuckled in return bringing his lips too close to my ear to kiss it lightly “Keep your thoughts low enough especially when you are thinking about me. I can’t stand it, at the moment I want to come and kiss your breath away”
Damn it, I was thinking that if I die I would never ever see his handsome face and cheeky smile ever again. Was I going to stand there and listen to him humiliating me? Nope I need to poke him too, what is wrong with that?
“But if you heard my thoughts then it means you were thinking about me Grey, weren’t you?” I struck back.
He shifted his face to stare at my face, my cheeks were tomato red and the distance was too short, I could…kiss him. He smirked.
“Sure, I was thinking about you, and I can’t help it” his eyes twinkled “You glued yourself in that specific spot and now I have no choice other than to think of you almost all the time” he smirked “You lost the grip on your thoughts again, if you want me to kiss you, you just ask for it” he said making me gasp in surprise, he took the chance to capture my lips and explore my mouth for a second leaving me breathless. I was red all over, the embarrassment was too much. He grinned proudly.
“Now that I granted you your wish, can you grant me mine?” he raised a brow. I gulped watching the movement of his Adams apple.
“What is it?” I dared
“A peck on my cheek to wish me luck in my mission” he grinned straightening and stepping back watching me intently.
I inhaled deeply watching his handsome face a playful smile hanging there. He was 30cm taller than me how did he expect me to reach his cheek?
“Lower yourself will you? You are way too tall for me” I stated helplessly.
“’When I granted your wish, did I ask you to lift yourself? I can’t remember doing that!” he said.
I sighed in frustration taking a step close to him, I stood on my tip toes wrapping a single arm around his neck while the other rested on his tout chest. I closed my eyes and pecked his cheek. As I lowered myself back to the ground, my abdomen brushed his groin…damn it he was …I gasped at the hardness.
He smirked knowingly “What a small devil you are, now you see what you did?”
I stepped back eyes wide “I…I…I didn’t…” I stuttered
“I wasn’t asking for anything more” he smiled sweetly before walking to the edge and releasing himself to go down the empty space. I raced to the edge but he was nowhere to be see…he teleported while in air? Wow, how fascinating.
I heard someone clapping from behind. I turned around to meet Abi and Sandy.
“Well, well, well…the two love birds meet again, forgetting there are some people watching” Abi stated.
I was now more than embarrassed that I wanted to run, the far end of the roof were a bunch of night guards with their wolves and panthers. Well, they probably saw everything considering their good sight…and my two friends as well.
“You two are so much in love, even a blind man can see it” Sandy said.
“In love? No, no, no, we are not…”
“Then what were those passionate kisses for? Asked Abi “you know, Grey never touched Regina in any intimate way, the furthest they did was to share a bed and hug. He has never kissed a single being other than you. He has never care about anyone the way he cares about you. Just accept it you guys are head over heels for each other, not to mention how you look at each other…the way his eyes twinkle!”
I walked back to the punching bag punched it twice before holding it in place.
“Abi, I could say am in love with that guy but I can’t accept it knowing Antonio is my only hope. The only strand holding me in place so I can’t fall off the edge. I don’t want to believe or accept that we are in love. I don’t wanna hurt later when Steel will demand Grey to chop off my head. It will be a more painful death for me then, and besides I am not his mate. If I fall too deep it will be too late for me to drag myself out when his soulmate will show up” I explained so they could drop the topic and console my poor self because what he said earlier still lingered in my mind.
I am no exception and am not his mate which I didn’t want to be, somewhere in there inside my heart there was a small flame burning. A flame of hope that someday I will be able to live a normal human life, and I wasn’t planning to extinguish the flame at all.
I smiled at Abi wearily and continued with my training, keeping in mind that I had challenged a hooligan. Abi helped me big time, I didn’t tire as fast as the previous time, I did a lot this time, my legs were becoming flexible my arms stronger as I had to move huge tires for several meters on the roof. I jogged and ran a lot till the horizon brought its beautiful colours indicating the sunrise. The guards teleported inside, we followed them. I was feeling better at least I was making a progress.
“Guys, I forgot to tell you, am challenging someone in half an hour. Adelyn to mention and I don’t trust myself that much” I said to them as we arrived at my room first.
“What? That jerk come on Becky, you got to be kidding me” Sandy exclaimed.
“Am serious” I wailed
“Come on we should talk inside” Abi dragged us into the room and locked the door “That girl is a wild cat since she lost her mate Becky, how could you?”
“She despises me Abi, treats me like nobody. She is rude and she tortured me down in the cells. I need to show her that am not a scared puppy that she can toast around!”
“Well then we need to do something, coz you could barely hit her, vampires are tough it is more of punching a concrete wall!” Abi explained
“I got an idea” Sandy’s eyes lit up “We could use the spell book!”
“Sandy?!” I scolded
“What other choice do we have here? You got any with you?” Sandy asked “you should use this skill you have, being able to use the spell book. It is an advantage, not everyone can” she advised.
“Well then I will go get it so we could find a spell that will suit the situation” I said before heading to the bathrooms.
